I wouldn't risk the straighteners... it's not he airline staff that will object it's the x-ray people... They nearly stripsearched me once as i had a pair of eyelash curlers in my hand luggage... I ask you! Was I gonna threaten to give the pilots lashes a "good seeing to"? :rotfl: But they looked like scissors on the x-ray machine so as it was close to the July bombings I was nearly floored by security...
Worst case they will ask you to go check them in (good luck getting your bag back up) or you can put them in their bin to be disposed off... I'd just not risk it and put them in the hold myself...

We are flying to Dublin at the end of this month for a weekend and to save money we have not paid for any hold luggage as we figured what we needed would fit it 2 small cases ( bargain at £7, they are tesco value ones) .
Regarding the wifes makeup, I have just been to LBA website and it says small amounts of liquid are permitted providing they are under 100ml and in a clear plastic bag 8" x8". It does not make it clear how many items of 100ml or less are allowed , or is it just as many as will fit in the bag?

Next question, the flights were booked in October and I havnt had any emails or calls about tax increases so can I assume that I dont have to pay any more money?

Lastly, as in the above post the straighteners must go. Looked on LBA and Ryanair web site and cannot find anything about them not been allowed, is this correct? ( it just says sharp objects)

    Thanks

    Thanks in advance

Re the tax increase - believe it comes into effect on 1st Feb, so if you return before then it doesn't apply to you.

Actually if they GO before the end of the month it doesn't apply - the additional tax is on flights FROM the UK only

But did you (inadvertently) pay for online checkin/priority boarding which is the default setting on Ryanair's website for folk who don't have any checked luggage

In answer to your question, you are permitted 1 of the clear bags each and the contents must be easily visible to the security staff. My partner had to bin a couple of bottles because the bags were 'over full'.

It says a max of 1litre, so that would be 10 x 100ml items, although with make-up they are often much smaller than 100ml so she could take more than 10 items as long as they all fit into the tiny plastic bag ;)

Well when this was booked in Oct 06 Im sure no mention of online checkin/priority boarding was made . 2 return flights were £37 in total from LBA to DUB and the conformation email makes no seperate mention of this. Yet when I looked into online check in on the Ryanair web site it says " have passengers paid for online checkin/priority boarding ( if booked before 1 nov tick yes)", so it seems we may have got it for free. Someone please correct me if Im wrong cos we intend turning up at the gate 30 mins before departure after getting our moneys worth in the exec lounge with Martins tip about half price passes with egg card.
( thats why we are checking before we go as it wont look good turning up just before take off, stinking of vodka and red bull with a case full of banned items)

    Thanks for all the info.
