ryanair baggage check in

last month 3 of us went to dublin for the weekend and my friend sorted the flights out, he said that we had no baggage to check in when ordering the tickets (to get best price),
once we arrived at the airport they asked us if we had any baggage to check in, so we checked in our luggage, 2 holdalls (large sports bags).

my question is, has this happened to anyone else with ryanair?,
its just were flying with them again in 3 weeks and was wondering if we should just book it with no luggage again. :rolleyes:

I think it depends on the staff on duty, and whether they are likely to be overheard.

They should have increased Ryanair revenue by charging you £7 per bag at checkin. (EDIT - just checked my facts)

Perhaps we need a separate thread to discuss and compare the european airlines.

You only pay for checked-in HOLD luggage

yeah i was wondering about this. flying with ryanair in a couple of weeks and have paid to check one bag in for the hold as are only going away for a couple of days so my boyfriend and i are sharing. this ok?

You are allowed 10kg free in the cabin (sports bag type,small case up to a certain size),which you can still take and count as yours.

The one in the hold can count as your BF`s.

You CANNOT pool luggage

by that I mean fill a case with 20kg and say you`re within your 15kg each allowance.

Ryanair WILL charge for any excess over 15kg.
Go to their site and read their help pages----all the info`s there but people can`t be bothered to read it and that`s how they get caught out and start slagging everything and everyone off except their own stupid selves!

Thanks alot for that post alared. it was really helpful. I thought i was reading the terms and conditions right but wanted to check! I didnt realise you could take 10kg on board too so thats good to know! Thanks again!

You can take hand baggage on board with you which must not weigh more than 10kg and measure less than 55cm x 40cm x 20cm, and you are only allowed one piece of hand luggage each which includes shoulder bags etc.

I agree you were lucky you weren't charged at the check-in desk.

It's quite good if you can manage with hand baggage alone, it saves lots of time when you arrive at your destination. I could never be that clever with packing!!!

And just to help you Ryanair will thoughtly assume that you want Priority Boarding & the ability to checkin online - and they'll charge you of course for the privilege unless you spot it in time and manage to find the link that removes the option.

I thought a small ladies handbag is allowed to the ladies in addition to the cabin luggage of said dimensions and weight... at least thats happened to me last time I used them about 6 months back

6 months ago was pre August 10th, things have changed a little bit since then
