Wasn't sure which forum this really belonged in...
I saw this on the television last night, so looked it up...
http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/offers/bundles
We already have Sky TV so looking at this bit:
Can't get the 8Mb till the summer
but can get their "Connect" package
Is it worth switching? We are currently on 4mb BT which is £25 per month.
Am I missing something or can we really get Broadband for £5 per month?

Yes you can, you can have it for free if you accept 2Mb and download restrictions.
It depends whether Sky have unbundled your local exchange.
You can check with Sky here.

A word of warning, I migrated from Orange and was without Broadband for 3 months, I'm on Sky BB now at around 8Mbs and it works fine. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I am currently with ntl freedom through a bt line & pay 24 quid for unlimited calls anytime & unlimited 1mb broadband. My bill usually ends up nearer the 40 quid mark each month though, because of mobile calls etc & calls to 0870 numbers etc.
Sky have offered me the connect package until they roll out the max & midi , up to 8mb, 40 gb usage with the sky talk free weekend calls & evening, all for only a fiver a month.
Sounds almost too good to be true though, but add on my normal cost of calls per month, i would still only be paying 20 quid tops. Thats gotta be good.
You have to use their broadband box though, i already have a router which i like but its a small price to pay I suppose0 -
Do you know why you have to use their box? This wouldn't be suitable as we have a router and two pc's and four laptops connectedNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130

I read the t & C's which say you have to use their router so they can update it with whatever they update it with i suppose. Since i read that though i have visited a few forums which tell a few horror stories about sky broadband. Its not all bad though because i also found out you can use your own router but obviously sky will not be able to support it technically. More on that for you to read at skyuser.co.uk/forum. hope this helps you gemmzie0

The router that Sky supply is a customised Netgear DG834GT
http://www.netgear.com/Products/RoutersandGateways/AGDualBandWirelessRouters/DG834GT.aspx
Its got 4 Ethernet ports and one wireless.
This might help your descision processes.
I understand that it is possible to use your own router, there are people over on Skyuser.co.uk who can help, the site does seem to be down at the moment though. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Are you aware that to get the complete SKY Offer you need to move back to BT as the Sky Talk part of the offer says
"To qualify you must have a BT line and continue paying BT for your line rental. "0 -
Only if you can get their broadband base/mid/max offering which is dependent on your exchange being unbundled.
Check availability on Sky's broadband site http://broadband.sky.com/That gum you like is coming back in style.0
