YOY in my borough of a massive 0.5%. That's a whole £900. Time to release some equity to spend on a jacuzzi.

    Or not.

Actually, when you break it down it's not even as simple as that.
You have to calculate the percentage of the area against the area average to understand what each area has weighted effect on the overall average.

Area _____________________________Monthly Change Average Value_________Monthly average change
    East____________________0.80% _________£ 175,079.00_________£1,400.63
    East Midlands_____________0.70% _________£ 124,646.00_________£872.52
    London__________________0.50% _________£ 348,686.00_________£1,743.43
    Yorkshire & The Humber____-0.30%_________£ 121,200.00 _________-£363.60
    North East_______________________-0.60%_________£ 101,759.00 _________-£610.55
    South East_______________________-0.70%_________£ 207,189.00 _________-£1,450.32
    West Midlands__________________-0.90%_________£ 130,756.00 _________-£1,176.80
    North West______________________-1.10%_________£ 112,803.00 _________-£1,240.83
    South West_____________________-1.10%_________£ 173,137.00 _________-£1,904.51
    Wales___________________________-1.70%_________£ 117,534.00 _________-£1,998.08
    England and Wales__________-0.30%_________£ 162,347.00 _________-£487.04

So it would appear that the average house in England and Wales reduced by £487.04 in August according to the Land Registry

I can't find a mention of this on the express at all.

    Nor the guardian.

But both have willingly told us houses are rising x amount a week, based on the last decade.

It only came out at 1100, I expect it will be covered in all the papers tomorrow. To be fair though -0.3%, is it worth mentioning?

It would be headlined in the Express for at least a week if it had been +0.3%

    Which is fair enough.
