Took DD1 to her first lesson in kick boxing tonight. Was a tight squeeze in the car park, (Wish I parked on the end now).
We were the first to leave, and to my left was a car parked, and hardly any room for me to get out, But I did it. I did hit the curb of the field opposite due to the squeeze. (basically if the car to my left was not parked It would of been easier to get out) Got home, and !!!!!! there is the color of the other car and white scraping on the left front of mine. (my car is black)... I am now panicking, I thought the noise I heard was me hitting the curb, to get out, DD1 was helping me too.
Am well put off going next week now, but have to go as DD really enjoyed it and they are a lovely bunch of people... And I feel so bad, this is going to be worrying me now...:(
So Do I go and just speak out and ask who's car, is that **** car OK, say sorry and offer to pay for any damage? OR don't say a word?
I was the first to arrive apart from the instructors which we met outside the building where we park, so they seen my car.
What would you do?

Be honest and ask around. If it was your car that someone had hit, I'm sure you'd be fuming and wanting whoever it was to fork out for it.
Also, they may find out anyway, in which case it makes you look bad for not owning up.0 -
I would go back next week and own up.
Maybe wait in the car park til you see them turn up and speak to them then, rather than ask everyone who's car it is. I'd apologise and offer to pay to put it right, explaining that you thought you'd hit the kerb, rather than their car.
"Do as you would be done to" after all. I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot, you'd like someone to be honest with you too.0 -
Perhaps the other car scraped your car trying to get IN the space.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Been there, done that.:o
Tired after a night shift at work, reversed into someones car, couldn't see any damage so I drove off and didn't realise till the next day that I'd smashed my rear light so must have scraped their car as well.
I owned up and paid for the damage - why should someone else lose out financially through no fault of their own? It would be dishonest to do otherwise. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
calm down darlyd - if you were the first to arrive then someone could have scraped your car! if you did scrape anothers car getting out I am sure you would have realised it! scraping someones car feels and sounds different than hitting a kerb! and you say DD guided you out.......she would have noticed if you had hit another car surely?0

I agree. I've hit both kerbs and cars in my time as a driver and it feels and sounds totally different.
(I don't meant to sound blase about it, I've only hit cars twice in 22 years of driving and owned up both times!)0 -
DD1 said "WATCH MUMMY, think you scraped it", I said I never I swear I hit the kerb (as I felt my tire hit), she said yes I think so too.. Left at that.
OK so the best thing for me to do is to go next week, send DD in, and wait in my car for the owner of the other car? I only remember the color of it now... And check it out before saying anything? DH reckons it will cost a few hundred pounds to fix my scrapes on my car, he reckons the white is the color under my black, and of course the other cars color..

Don't wait a week, go to the class tomorrow and speak to the person in charge, see if anyone has come asking about it.0
