Would highly recommend Thailand - lots to see and do and very cheap once you get there. Depends on the cost of flights - we got cheap flights through a relative who works for an airline.
We did 16 days last year with 5 days in Bangkok shopping and sightseeing and then the rest just outside Hua Hin, although there are lots of other places I could recommend. We had already had one holiday there so chose a lazy option this time. I spent hours on tripadvisor.com - recommend looking there or even posting your question on their message board.
A couple of years ago did 3 weeks in Costa Rica and probably our favourite place ever - I did our own itinerary (again, spending hours on tripadvisor!) and travelled around using the minibuses you can book, spending 3 or 4 days in several places and finishing with a week on the coast. Amazing flora and fauna and all in all an unforgettable experience (preferred Costa Rica to Australia in fact!)
It was just my daughter (14 at the time) and myself and we had a real adventure, including rainforests, cloud forest, kayaking, volcanoes, coast, watched the turtles laying their eggs on the beach..... I could go on and on. They are very up on sustainable tourism which was a big attraction but didn't affect the quality of the holiday at all. Again, look on tripadvisor.Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
Norway - not cheap... Sweden - not hugely cheap... Denmark - on par with UK

But I'm danish - have lived in Norway for nearly 3 years and spent considerable time working in Sweden lol
Seriously Denmark has camping, beaches, theme parks (Tivoli in Copenhagen and Aarhus and Bakken on Sealand not far from Copenhagen it think... it's been YEARS) and if you are into cycling then Denmark is perfect! If my familiy didn't live there I'd go back for holidays more
Oh and you can take the ferry over with your car OR fly (Ryanair do decent price flights even with the new taxes) DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -
Camping near Arcachon and Lacaneau-Ocean on the French coast near Bordeaux.
