Decided to enable AYCE data on m old "3togo" SIM (contact but £0/month rental - nothing inclusive)

    When asked about data
    - First suggested I used £1/MB or whatever the price is
    - Then suggested £5/month for 2GB

I suggested £3/month for AYCE ;-) -- a little consultation and headscratching & they decided it was valid.

    Result!

The funny thing is I don't really need it -- it's mostly a backup sim/smartphone but I took a punt on getting it enabled before they changed their mind. So I guess it's win for the network (negligible use) and win for me (backup when I need it).

My main phone is on vodafone due to coverage, but with limited data. The thought it as well as guarding against broken phone/no voda signal I could also use for data wifi via tethering. The latter is a little dubious as technical it's not allowed, but unlimited use from phone is, and I'd just use tethering from another phone, over wifi, to avoid swapping SIM. With negligible use I suspect it won't be an issue.

TBH I'd switch back to 3 totally if I could, but no coverage at work, virtually none at home (only 1 or two shelves) and lots of patches in countryside + other indoor locations make it untenable. Vodafone costs ££ but provides broader base-level coverage (slow data at time though)
Have you tried the SIM in a dongle or a MiFi?

3to Go was payg but a contract - it was meant to be a mash of both but turned out to be nothing but confusing after years of payg for the public.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

I read this and thought it sounded a good idea for me. I already have a great 'flexi' deal with 3 that i was offered last time i renewed my contract that gives me 500 minutes or texts, 2000 3 to 3 minutes, 500Mb data and add-on to give me an extra 2Gb data, all for £8 a month.

Now after a couple of calls to CS i finaly got them to agree to this £3 for all you can eat, so now i get all this for £11 p/m. Suits me just fine and as i already have the internet max add on that allows tethering i dont realy see how they could say i cant use it however i like ;). I use the unlocked orange san francisco phone that works fine with usb & wifi tethering so all in all i recon its a pretty nice deal :j.

Not *yet*. It is very tempting though I've stories they're blocked.

I don't have a mifi to tets with so could
    a) order one, use the month then try it & if no good keep for payg or sell on ebay
    b) find a friend with one (would be possible at work except that it's a 3 blackspot , as if my home ....)
What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots
  • my wife got an sms with this offer but we won't take it up as she uses wireless all the time and i agree with other people here the network is dying in my opinion with all the people tethering and hammering the network night and day.

it's a good marketing ploy but i really do think their network is no where near coping with the 97% data across it.

On a positive note it means less stress on other networks who have fair usage!!!
