  • Hi LG,

I agree, your diary is really motivational.

Hope you enjoy your lunch and find something nice to wear. I kind of like going through my wardrobe occasionally and picking out something I've not worn for ages - then people ask if it's new :D

Horace - your description of your lunch made me really hungry! Sounds like you had a lovley day.

LG - have you checked that you haven't overpaid any tax over the past few years? I got out a big old folder of P60s, payslips etc. the other day and discovered I'd paid a lot of tax when I was a student and definitely wasn't earning more than the personal allowance. But now it's too late for me to claim it back (I think the cut off date is just under 6 years). I had no idea back then that I could claim anything back. Might be worth looking at though, if you earned under the threshhold in the last 6 years. Could be more to throw at the debts!

Hi Moos mum (love that name too!)

Thank you so much for reading and posting. I'd tried a couple of times before to sort it out but only now do I feel my head is in the right place and I've never lasted this long!

    Hey!

I found a nice black and cream striped dress that I haven't worn yet with this crowd and it has a loose middle so i can stuff myself at lunch :)

When I was training in a hairdressing salon I only earnt £200 a month so it really might be worth seeing if I paid tax on any of that, thanks for suggesting I'll definitley look into it!

  • To add..

I've had another discovery this morning! Not a great one either! As Im off work I've been at home, and about an hour ago I realised the flat felt really really warm. So I touched the radiator and it was red hot. Checked the thermostat at it was set to 21!! We have set the timers so it should be off during the day so this is not good news!!

I managed to google and find the manufacturers instructions and it transpires that whenever we manually turn it up for an hour or so it switches it over to manual setting which overrides any timers, we do this a lot so I think its been on manual since we turned it on pretty much!!! ARGH! Therefore we've been eating the flat all day and all night sometimes at 21 degrees! This would have happened last winter too.

So, I've reset it back to the timer and we've turned it off altogether until it gets cooler again and we need it back on. Then, when we want it back on we'll have to be careful not to switch it over to manual by accident! At least we discovered it early on in the winter so we can save money now!!!

    Have fun...:D
  • They certainly are worth it! I keep mine at my parent's house but have been getting up to ride before work and it is very satisfying to have done all that before being in the office.

I have had my horse for six years now - he is getting on a bit (19 next year!) but we still manage to compete quite successfully!

I will be keeping track of your progress and I think you have even given me the inspiration to start my own diary!
  • So, the lunch was LOTS of fun! I was not in a good way yesterday! I last till 2am when I was last woman standing, the boys were still going stong but I called a cab got my head down for 2 hours then was back there at 5 am to go riding! Can't say that was the best idea in the world but after I paid for my meal the only other thing I paid for was the cab so I didn't overspend at all.

Manged to make it on my train home then crashed out at my parents! Having a quiet day today then going to the party tonight. I have spent a little today as I dropped my Mum at the hairdressers and whilst in town I popped into a couple of shops and bought another xmas present and a little gift for the girls birthday tonight.

Have registered my claim for the £50 cash back on the post office credit card. Have already shredded it so no chance of going wrong on that!

Hope you're all having a good one!

  • Hey

Home sweet home! Just back from the homeland had a lovely relaxing few days. Haven't spent a penny so far today but tonight my flatmate has persuaded to get nandos for tea! It is my absolute favourite and I do have a free whole chicken to claim on my loyalty card (from before my MSE days) so we will use that and the rest will only cost a couple of quid!

I have registered the post office card online and the balance transfer fee was £116.22 which is about 2 months worth of interest on the old card, so worth it. The direct debit is set up to pay min balance so should find out when the first one is when I get my first statement I guess??

Next week I should be able to have NSD's Mon-Weds but Thurs and Fri will be spendy - budgeted so I need to be sensible on those nights.

I have had my tesco vouchers in the post, have £1.50 voucher to spend in store and 6 lots of "25 extra points when you spend a £1" on various things, I think I'll use most of them over the next few weeks, they don't run out until 24.12.2011 so plenty of time.

Hope you've all had a nice weekend!

  • Just remembered that tomorrow is another birthday of a girl in my team. She's booked somewhere for lunch and I'll have to add to the collection. Don't mind adding to the collection but lunch will also be about £15 and I wanted NSD's to add to my loot for Thursday and Friday night. I'm not sure how I can get out of it either, if I say it's lack of money then my boss will very kindly offer to pay - which isn't fair on him and I don't want to put him in that position. I can't feign illness as they'll know I'm not ill and plus it's only lunch.... I do actually really want to study as I only have 2 weeks to go but I don't want her to think I'm being off with her.....

Only spent £4 on nandos and I didn't have to break into my £10 for today for that as I had change left over yesterday so at least I can put £10 into my pot for the end of the week.
