PS - On the topic of housing - which I think you had starting thinking about, a comment from a trusted poster on motley fool (investment website)
The more dependable statistics, however, tend to confirm that the economy continues to flatline, that the housing market is still severely depressed, that prices are falling (both real and nominal) and that there is ABSOLUTELY NO pressure to jump into the market whatsoever - quite the reverse, in fact

So given you are happy renting, you need not worry about lost opportuntiies if you find yourself "resting". Although don't necessary believe one point of view - there are planty of fanatics bothe sides of the House price question

As another PS - you could also try the benefits boards (who are a feisty bunch but with hearts of gold) as to what you would be able to claim (may not need to give up the flat, etc ....

  • Hey Mark,

Thanks so much for all that advice. To give it a bit more context the person who told me is working on the project and should have kept it confidential but I think wanted me to know there may be opportunities of a new finance team in this new arrangement. However, he obviously didn't think that I would then put two and two together and realise my current job would no longer be needed where I work now and that is therefore a worry. when I expressed this I think he realised his mistake as he confirmed my team wouldnt exist.

Whilst it seems there may be an opportunity it isnt far enough along yet for him to be certain and nor is he in a position to be able to promise me anything so I'm quite cross I'm in this position of guilty knowledge which also affects my line manager whom I have a lot of respect for and we are quite close so I don't feel right knowing this and she doesn't. I will however, maintain the confidentiality until the situation changes.

I agree with looking for a new job, I'm in a bit of a catch 22 with it though. I have signed a study agreement and if I leave voluntarily within a year of qualifying CIMA then I owe them my study fees - over £15k - so not much I can do until I am informed officially!!!

But I will definitley post all of this on the employment board later and see what they think too

thanks for the housing stuff, its good to know I can sweep that to one side for a good while!

    SIGH.

  • In other news. Only 5 days left until payday, I am well within budget - I feel like being MSE takes a lot less effort these days and comes a bit more naturally.

I am on half a day today and heading home for the weekend at lunchtime. I am pleased I am as the long hours this week have taken it out of me.

Tonight I am riding and then having a drink with the girl who runs the yard.
Tomorrow Mum is taking me to town and treating me to a haircut, in the evening I am having dinner with friends and seeing my god daughter.
Sunday I am spending time with my niece then coming back to London

    Cant wait :)

Have a good one all x

So - the training pay back is an issue - depends how hardball you feel - and I am not sure this is yet a hardball situation

you could be being lined up for what might be a great role, yet if you start showing claws

so its difficult with your line manager - that makes me feel she is more at risk than you. i think you need NOT to tell her but that's where the employment board or redundancy board might help - they may suggest keeping notes of exact times and conversations so your role is clear whatever happens

    good luck

  • Thanks Mark, appreciate that and I will do

Weekend was lovely, really nice to go home and see everyone and i spent much less than I budgeted for so I have transferred an extra £50 to the Halifax c card this morning

I have £75 left in the bank and only 2.5days left till payday I'm hoping all of this can go to the credit card too but in my calendar I have a note that I'm going to a concert tomorrow just have completely forgotten who with and where!!! I have no recollection (sp) of being invited!! So i may have to spend money on that or I may not!! Hopefully not, as then I can pay off more money!!

Can't wait till Thursday to be paid my new salary! I have a reasonable estimate of what I expect and what that will go on but you never know what the taxman might take extra on a new salary so hopefully my estimates aren't far off and on thursday I can have fun paying off both the credit cards! I should get my payslip tomorrow or Weds so I can plan in advance

I saw my Granny at the weekend and she is back home and doing much better now which was a huge relief. She also gave me £100 for passing my exams so I now have £200 to treat myself with! I can't remember the last time I had that much money to spend on myself! I really want some new clothes for work so may have a shopping spree this weekend

P and S found a flat they liked this weekend and took it immediatley, so they are moving out of our flat on Friday and the new flatmate - S - will move in on Saturday! It will be really strange to have them not be around and someone else instead! On Weds night we are all staying in and having dinner together as a mini leaving party

    Hi LG,
Just popped in quick but didn't want to read and run.

I use this site to check salary details and love it >>> http://www.thesalarycalculator.co.uk/salary.php

Needed that for working out a reduction in my hours.

So glad you had a good weekend and sorry to hear you've been given such rotten confidential news. I do hope things work out for you.
  • Thanks Muffin - have just used that and my estimation is £300 lower. I do have some deductions of around £250 so I reckon I'm not far off!

Off to update siggy too as my PO DD has gone out today also

  • PAYDAY tomorrow!!!Should get our payslips today, SO impatient to see if my estimation is correct!!!Came in £30 under budget this month so just treated myself to a nice lunch from pret! tomorrow the extra will go to the credit card when I make my transfers!Tonight we are having a flat dinner for P&S leaving, I am cooking an italian feast!Lovely ride this morning despite it being pitch black! We had an over excited dog join us and he hadn't seen horses before so I think he thought they were big dogs and tried to play but the horses weren't interested! He was lucky not to get kicked though when he was jumping up to bite Vixen's tail!!!!Might go and hint at the secretary about the payslips.....

  • Hello payday!!

Had a lovely ride this morning then rushed to my PC to check the bank balance, it was £89.50 more than I had estimated so that made me even happier! I have made some payments and here’s the current situation:

    Nationwide credit card

    Was £150

    Now £0

    Halifax credit card

    Was £366.54

    Now £0 :D

    Post Office credit card

    Was £3,034.22

Will be £2,958.22 once the DD goes out on the 17th

    Nationwide loan

    Was £3,877.23

Will be £3,772.44 once the DD goes out on the 1st

I have also sent £200 to Mum and Dad so I now have £469.99 left to give them – but this is paying them in advance for the holiday so not including it in the debt total.

    Today’s debt remaining: £6,911.45 46% paid off!

After direct debits: £6,730.66 50% paid off!

Just a few more weeks till I can officially say that I am halfway there!Am really starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel now! In January I will have finished paying Mum and Dad so can put another £200 to debt. So then I’ll go from paying £704.79 a month to £904.79 a month off debt, and fingers crossed for another bonus similar to last years in February and then I should be debt free in either Feb or March – that would be flipping wonderful!!!! If no bonus then the worst case scenario is end of July

I have sent £100 to my online saver with max 4 withdrawals a year and 4% interest rate and I have sent £100 to my instant access online saver account – each month I’m going to do this so that I build up a buffer in case the worse happens at work. I’ll just keep £100 a month in the instant access account for emergencies and at the end of the month transfer all of it or what’s left to the interest building saving account

I am going to try and ring the Post Office credit card to get the details I need to be able to make overpayments on that card, my 0% interest deal runs out in Jan so need to make sure I’m smashing as much as I can off the total for that between now and then! Going to test it with a £20 overpayment this month, then next month I am planning to pay £600 off it.

It’s SO nice to see the line on my debt graph in excel take a huge nose dive downwards!!!
