Caz, sorry i dont mean to pry, but if you get benefits as you said then are you not entitled to legal aid? I cut diwn my costs by writing everuthing down and emailing my solicitor and barrister, im a chatty sort so used to forget time was my money and it soon added up. My solicitor also agreed to email me rather than charging the £30 etc. Just a thought!
Unfortunately you can only get Legal Aid when you instruct your solicitor and not retrospectively (that's a big word for a Saturday night - probably spelt wrong as well!). I got the summons on the Saturday, Monday was a Bank Holiday so I only had Tuesday to get a solicitor who then had to file papers in the court for me to appear that Thursday. At the time I had some savings which were above the threshold for LA. I certainly don't now so should I need to I can apply for LA now.
It's just sickening that the money I had saved for a rainy day has to be used to fight my ex in court even though a judge has already made a ruling but after 6 years of bullying I'm not surprised, just sickened.
But sure, I have TCOs and some glitched Gallo wine to cheer me up. That and my wonderful boys. DS1 won't sleep in his own room and will only sleep in my bed now so I got woken each morning by him either saying "Eyyy oooohhh" or giving me a kiss. Either way he has a smile, I have a smile then DS2 gurgles and he smiles when he sees me. That's priceless and worth every penny of what I've spent so far.0 -
