I've got a huge shoulder of pork joint in my fridge that needs cooking today - any good recipies?
Ohhhhh I cooked a huge one yesterday that I purchased after seeing it getting cooked by James on the Saturday morning cook programme. He scored it with a stanley knife (I used a very sharp knife though) and put it in a roasting dish with about an inch or more of water. Covered it with foil and cooked for 3 hours, then took the foil off and cooked on a higher heat for another 2 hours to make it crispy. No need to put any salt on. I have never cooked my pork in water before but I have to say it was lovely and tender. Loads left and looks like we will be eating pork for tea all week. Yum......0 -
Slow roast it with brown sugar and honey for pork. Make usre it's covered for most of the cooking thoughMarried the lovely Mr P 28th April 2012. Little P born 29th Jan 20140

The only veg I don't like is butternut squash, aubergine, pumpkin and carrots.
How can you not love em?!
Butternut squash, pumpkin and carrots all make the most wonderful soups that only take minutes of preparation.
Basically all you need is to fry an onion and then whatever veg you are using for a minute or 2. Add stock and simmer until yer veggies soften. Blitz and enjoy! Simples.
You can posh em up if you fancy when you get a bit more confident. Ie, add a handful of coriander leaves last minute to your carrot soup before you blitz, mmmm!
Above method works with potato and leek too, etc
You need a cheapo value hand blender but it will last you for years of scrummy soups.
The aubergine makes an amazing fritter too! Just dip slices in a quick batter made in a bowl and shallow or deep fry. Sprinkle with sea salt and enjoy. Lovely with a spicy chutney and salad.
Go on, try it out. You know you want to!
I've just tried mussels in a White wine sauce for the first rime for lunch from Lidl. Shame they look so ugly inside but the taste was fab. The lads tried em too which was great!
In other words,
If you don't give it a go,
Then you will never know

Would be rude not to!"Buy me, Lady", said the frock, "and I will make you into a BEAUTIFUL & WHOLE & COMPLETE human being"."Do not be silly", said the Man, "for a frock alone cannot do that"."True", said the Lady, "I will have the shoes and the bag as well".:rotfl:0 -
I'd love to make lobby but not sure how????
I used to work for a lovely butcher on a Saturday when I was at school.
He said that lobby is basically the potteries title for a stew in which left over stuff was lobbed in a pan and left to slow cook whilst the housewife did her tasks.
That was true of my mums lobbies except she bought a cheap cut of neck of lamb for ours.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

The basis of all my "soups" is carrot, swede, onion & celery. Exactly as you said Jumblejack, leave it to bubble away for ages, blend it all down then chuck in anything!!! Last summer we had so many tomatoes that I ended up making tomato soup from a Jamie oliver recipe(Never usually follow recipes but thought I'd give it a try) It was amazing, roasted the tomatos first, loads of garlic, oregano and stuff, OH loved it as he's a real tomato fan. Best investment ever was my hand blender, mine has just died so got a new one this weekend but realised I bought it when my DS was born to liquidise food when he was weaning, and that was 17 years ago, so defnately had my moneys worth!Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:0

I'm just "a little" annoyed I didn't find the latest BT quad ones on dtd as I saw it as my personal challenge and failed and you got two sets!
Don't take it personal please
And I'm in London
PS. You all made me want to make some soup now!0
