Gave EDF my meter reading 1st of June. It's now 23rd July and I've had no money. Usually they've been faster than this, though as I remember demand 90 days to pay.

They'd cut me off if I didn't pay my gas and electric bill for three months!

I'd contact them - they've been very quick with my last 2 or 3 payments.

    British Gas do my FIT.

Last two payments have been within a week but they do say "within 28 working days"
Still waiting for the payment for the 30th June reading.

Anyone else getting a delay this time around?

Bah, phoned them up today - no trace of the online reading on their system.

Now submitted over the phone and a few more days to wait.

  • My FIT provider is BG. Up to the end of 2012 I received an email reminding me to submit the gen. reading. However, the April 2013 email reminder did not arrive, but I am very organized, and used the previous quarter email reminder to submit the April one. By the beginning of May, I was wondering where my cheque was and phoned them. I was told they had a problem with readings sent in around that time and they were 'waiting for customers to contact them as I had'. I never thought to mention the lack of email, but I did say that waiting for customers to contact them was not the right thing to do as not everyone is as on the ball (my mother-in-law has PV and uses BG and she is clueless sometimes). Anyway, I was assured all was in order now and I gave the reading over the phone and got a cheque by mid May (obviously, specially printed, as it was not in the format previous ones had been). The next quarter comes and again, no email. So I used the last one. Reading submitted 2.7.13. No cheque as of 1.8.13. Phoned BG and the same thing has happened again! This time I am really annoyed (wanted to use a stronger word, but I shall not). So, explained that this is the second time, mentioned the lack of email reminder and asked that it be lodged as a formal complaint now. Just got a standard email back from BG to say one of their 'senior' complaints people will contact me to discuss the problem in more detail. We shall see.

Thanks for the warning - I am currently wondering where my quarterly "you have got a week to update your readings" email from BG has got to.

Up to now BG has seemed to be trying to redefine a year as less than 360 days ! So my actual running 365/6 day year is not up until near the end of August, though we are now over 90 days since the last reading. Incidentally my last reading had to be entered via an on-line screen.

How difficult is it to set up such a simple system ?

Cheque from BG arrived five days after phoned reading.

Next time, if the email reminder arrives, I'll submit online but phone and check it's arrived a few days later.

At least phoning them is free!

I submitted my FIT meter reading on July 4th.
As of today (6th Aug) I have still not received any payment from Scottish Power. I telephoned them last week and was told the amount that I was owed and assured that payment would be in my account by the end of last week. Disgusting service - I wonder what would happen if I delayed paying my gas/electricity bill for a month !

Just managed to speak to someone at Scottish Power - they now say my payment will be made by BACS (slowest possible means) week commencing 12th August. They say that this is "within the guidelines"! Is it any wonder people hate energy companies !

I'm also with British Gas. The time between readings does seem to vary a bit but to be honest it doesn't make any difference to me - reading earlier gets the money earlier.

Last one was submitted at end of July via the form (far better than the email they used before) and payment was received on Friday 2nd August. I really can't complain about that although it would be nice to have BACS not cheque but if it is fast payment I'm not too fussed.
