  • Had a call from EDF this morning following our reading submitted recently along with our signed FiT contract.

They wanted to confirm the number of panels and the max power per panel (20x185 = 3.7kW for our system), before sending the first FiT payment covering generation between the commission date and the reading submission date a couple of weeks ago.

I queried whether we'd then get another payment after the March quarterly meter submission and that indeed will be the case, but the payouts are typically 40-50days for the quarterly payments. Hopefully our first non-quarterly payment will be quicker as it sounded like it was approved as a result of the phone call today.

I'll probably delay my March reading until later in the month, so that its as close to the April 1st uprating of the FiT tariff. EDF previously told me they would pay out everything after the March reading at the new rate, rather than estimating the reading on April 1st. In case they had their wires crossed though I'll try to make any estimate more accurate by submitting the quarterly reading as close to April 1st as possible (without missing the deadline).

But they shouldn't be - that is kind of the whole point of it!

Yes, that's exactly why I'm pointing out that it frequently doesn't work!!!

    Thanks for that.

I have filled in and submitted the British Gas form emailed to met by someone called Rubin.
That plus a scanned photocopy of my passport and the order/invoice from my supplier/fitter, seems to be all they need.
The system automatically acknowledges the receipt of an email when the ".doc" and two ".jpg" files arrived.

Two simple pages of MS-Word form is soooooo much more simple than the equivalent nPower snail mail system, with its spurious detail over 6 sides of A4 plus more detailed bumph about the inverter and panels installation.

Glad I could help and that it's worked well for you.:)

I'm with npower for our supply of dual fuels, but was unimpressed by them for FiT registration. So, back in December when the previous chaotic deadline was approaching, I called British Gas (free/quickly answered) and was readily accepted by them. I rang them again to check about an answer on the form, then all paperwork sent by email, confirmed by phone call.

Maybe they've recently closed to non-customers, but I'd give it a try as I couldn't fault them!

No change. I recently registered with them and found them to be fantastic. I'm with EDF for both gas and electric.

I contacted British Gas on Saturday 4th February to see if they would accept me and also if they would take my application in person at Manchester seeing as I only live 20 mins away. They said yes to both so I filled in the very simple two page form and took it to them to check. Within 20-30 minutes of them taking the paperwork I received an email accepting me, giving me my eligibility date and my terms and conditions to sign and return. I printed them out, signed them and returned them Saturday afternoon. On Tuesday 7th february British Gas emailed me to confirm registration was complete and gave me a date to send my first meter reading. All in all it was 3 days from start to finish, one of which was a Sunday!

Just hope they're just as efficient in payment ;)

Im really not that bothered, as long as it arrives at some point. I'm in it for the long term, not to spend every cheque that drops through the door.

most people would prefer to see money in their own pocket rather than someone elses!

you haven't really got the hang of the money saving bit of this forum, have you? :D

but each to their own :D

Is there an echo in here? :rotfl:

I somewhat optimistically checked our account today to see if EDF had credited the payment after yesterday's phone call which said the first payment was 'approved'. What with Faster Payments and next day transfers from 1st Jan 2012, I thought just maybe we'd have something...

...Oh look an aerial swine just dropped a deposit on our PV.

Good news is always worth repeating.
I got some strange message saying "you have something you wanted to quote on another thread - quote or delete it" I found I had two MSE screens open at the same time - one via the weekly email.

So I thought bother it I must have been interrupted.

So I did a copy and paste of the forgotten still open screen Voila
