Thank you!
hope it helps do let me know0 -
I have always been 'sweaty' (though being towards the end of the change has reduced it loads). I tried all kinds of anti perspirants - Driclor is very good but expensive at about £6 - have a look at the reviews on Boots website. It worked but the irritation was too much for me. Out of the ordinary ones I'd second the Sanex roll on if you prefer a roll on but the best I found was Arrid Extra Dry spray, completely got rid of the smelliness and improved the wetness. Both are often in Poundland and the discount chemists, cheap enough to try. I also used it around my boobs and my feet! I've seen deodorant wipes which might be useful for a quick clean and top up with antiperspirant through the day? Probably easier than trying to wash properly.
I hope you find a solution because I know what an absolute misery it is. HTH0 -
I used to (touch wood big time!) also have a big sweat issue (only my weight was going up rapidly from a size 6 to a size 14-16 within a year and a half and not going down!) I used to exercise alot in the day so its hard to say if it was affecting me all the time or not but every night without fail I used to wake up everything drenched- even my hair! It went on for about 2+ years. I saw doctors who just shrugged their shoulders, I had no idea if I was doing anything wrong and felt to embarassed to say anything. It was so horrible, I'd wake up and be able to physically wring out my clothes!
I did find that the Sure Maximum support deoderant (the more expensive one, around £5 a go) really did work but you gotta use it every day for about 2 days for it to really work. I had tried Mitchum but it just left my skin feeling sort of gooey and sticky and didn't stop any sweating. No other deoderand came close to the Sure Maximum, Dove also make one. You apply it at night before you sleep every night after having washed and it works though it can work out a little expensive if you were anything like me and found that even places your calves and forearms sweat! (I think the only places that didn't were my eyeballs and my nails!!)
I did still have to was twice daily and used a scrub first and then followed with a normal clear type shower gel as I was worried about smelling bad. No one would have said anything to me either way but I was careful not to eat anything which would have added to any BO (so no spicy foods, no soy foods, no refined carbs, no coffee or cola (its the caffiene) and etc. Everything I ate was very mild and non seasoned).
I did find mine went when I lost a little weight (slowly rather then a fast 'diet' I lost about a stone) and also reduced my exercise. Its been almost a year now, I have had the odd random night sweat since but it tends to be around the time of my period (though this seems to be vanishing too...:() I am not over or underweight, weight infact seems pretty stable at the moment though had been losing weight a few months ago.
I would go to the GP and ask for a hormone test and thyriod test. I didn't know at the time but sweating alot is a symptom, not something your supposed to put up with. Its easy to think you should just suffer in silence as it doesn't seem life threatening (only socially!) but it is something that can at least be investigated.0 -
I agree with Jennyweb - please make an appointment with your GP to make sure there's no underlying medical issue causing the excessive perspiration. You've lost some weight which you're very happy about, was it in a short space of time and did you lose it without really trying? If you don't want to see your GP, how about the Practice Nurse - s/he'll be able to check your blood pressure & heart rate and do a urine test - and will escalate to the GP if necessary. I hope you can find quick solution to this embarrasing, inconvenient problem, I really do..0

Odaban, Driclor or Anhydrol Forte are the really heavy artillery where odour-control is concerned. I'd also suggest that you wash with an anti-bacterial soap or liquid.
Try to not wear any fabrics that are man-made next to the skin, even blends, as these can make the problem much worse. Also, you should ensure that clothing is properly laundered to remove the odour completely. I'd recommend some vinegar in the final rinse.0 -

I will definitely try that one, thank you. Good to know about the dust thing-I always seem to get big white patches from sprays, so I'll steer clear of the powder one if its particularly powdery.I have always been 'sweaty' (though being towards the end of the change has reduced it loads). I hope you find a solution because I know what an absolute misery it is. HTHI have no idea why somethings work and others don't, its very odd. Maybe I don't use it right? I will pop into the pound shop here (we have a few, and a cheapy chemists type shop) and see if they have any anyway, its worth another go for a quid

I'm not that bad yet, but it is worsening, so I do need to nip it in the bud before it is. Sure max and dove(something similar), got it! I'll look for those too, thank you!
I am going to see my GP next week anyway, but I'm sure there won't be a quick fix, so all this will help in the mean timePlease excuse my bad spelling and missing letters-I post here using either my iPhone or rathr rubbishy netbook, neither of whch have excellent keyboards! Sorry!0 -
My GP prescribed me a roll-on to use that blocks the pores and stops me sweating (down side is that I tend to over heat now!!) - I over sweat due to thyroid problem/medication.
I'm at work so cant get the name for you but i will post it when i get home - might be worth asking for it (I think you can get it over counter too but not sure)0 -
One thing I have noticed is if I've not shaved/waxed my underarms for a few days (ok couple of weeks :rotfl:) the hair seems to trap the smell more.... so just suggesting that you keep on top of the hair:D:D There was no nice ladylike way of putting it and I blush at the mere thought of mentioning it in a public place
but sometimes these things have to be mentioned.
I too second the sanex deodorant - i use roll on as I can't use sprays, I even roll it under my ( . )( . )'s as i own a HUGE pair and I sweat very badly under them - although I don't have any nasty smell there.
Hope you manage to get something sorted - nothing worse than being self conscious about these things.Banana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning0 -

I walk him 3 times a day (Boyfriend takes him on another walk too-very spoiled pooch!) for around 20 mins half an hour, at a decent walking pace. Its not enough to make me at all sweaty unless its hot out. I've put my weightloss totally down to that-just an increase in excercise, it could be a coincidence though. I am happy to see my GP, I've seen him about much worse things beleive me! Good thing to point out though, in case others are reading who might not want to see their Doctor

Someone else (that I confided in offline) has suggested I pre-treat the stained areas with one of those oxy-type laundry detergents too, make a paste and let it sit on for a while before it goes in the machine to help shift the caked in mix of deoderant and sweat (it sounds nearly as horrid as it is!), can't hurt I suppose!:T
MASSIVE thank yous to everyone who has taken the time to reply so far, I really appreciate it. I also really appreciate no one telling me I'm dirty or just to wash more, I'd need to live in a portable shower-bubble to wash more than I do at the moment! Please excuse my bad spelling and missing letters-I post here using either my iPhone or rathr rubbishy netbook, neither of whch have excellent keyboards! I do make sure to keep on top of my hairiness-thanks to my PCOS I am also excessivly hairy, including under my arms-I had noticed it was worse when I hadn't shaved, so I do it smooth in thereMimi_Arc_en_ciel wrote: »My GP prescribed me a roll-on to use that blocks the pores and stops me sweating (down side is that I tend to over heat now!!) - I over sweat due to thyroid problem/medication.
