Ironically before this happened I thought they were the best online rentals company around
I've been with 4 so far and lovefilm's website was the easiest to use, the delivery was quickest and they kept to my queue pretty accurately. Yet another case of a good company who employ king bar stewards in the CS department?

There is another massive thread floating around the forums regarding lovefilm's terrible service. I've been with them for 2+ months and will be cancelling at the end of this month to go for another free trial somewhere else. Probably screenselect as they have a 2 for 1 offer.0

WARNING: Lovefilm/Sainsburys DVD promise an unlimited service, but if you return discs quickly (i.e. the next day or two after receiving them) your service will be downgraded. Various explanations are given for this, but the short of it is that they are not making enough money out of you.
I have been told that ALL of their customers can expect delays of up to FOUR days before another disc is even put in the post. This level of service is abysmal and amounts to bait and switch...misleading customers. Sack them!0 -

Be warned about Love Film. I came home from work today to find a letter from a debt collection agency saying that I need to pay £159.91 within the next 7 days.
This debt is from LoveFilm apparently.
I did their free trial and then cancelled because I didn't want to pay the monthly fees. I then changed jobs and email addresses.
Apparently they have sent me emails to my old work address requesting payment. Because I didn't receive them, I didn't have a clue my membership hadn't been cancelled.
They've been trying to collect £14.99 every month and that is now this debt.
Unfortunately I had forgotten to post one dvd back. Stupid I know. I think that may be why they didn't cancel the membership.
I've very annoyed that they didn't telephone me or write me a letter. I would have sorted this out long ago.
The debt agency said that they will give me 50% off my debt if I pay by Wednesday. It's so frustrating, but I guess I'm just going to have to cough up the money.
I tried to phone LoveFilm but there was no answer. I've tried calling since and it just rings and rings.
I've sent them an email but had no reply.
I wouldn't use them again, ever!!0 -
I did cancel my membership as I said I would, but my account is still showing one disc was sent on the 18th, and I haven't received it. My billing date is tomorrow, so I have warned them and been assured that the billing date will be put back, but I wouldn't be surprised if I get charged. I pre-warned my bank who said if I do they will do an investigation for me.0

Re: my earlier post
As things stood they have just taken a payment from my bank a year after I cancelled my membership! They said that because I didn't cancel my membership until 3 months that I still owed them 2 payments, (I did try to cancel right from the 1st month but they wouldn't, hey ho). So I sent an email expressing how annoyed I was and they sent one back saying ok you've paid 2 payments we'll knock off the 3rd as a gesture of goodwill. Great I think, that's done with. This morning I get a letter from a debt collection agency asking for £29.98!!!! I have just emailed both Lovefilm and the debt collection agency explaining that this has already been sorted out and that I am very annoyed by the whole situation, especially when they said they have contacted me on numerous occasions when they haven't, not once!!! Now waiting for a reply :mad:0 -
I too have got a letter from a debt collection agency about a year after cancelling my account with Lovefilm, or whatever they were called back then.
It would seem that they have been taken over by another company recently, hance all the changes.
Anyone any advice on dealing wiith these debt collectors for speculative claims? I seem to remember a thread from a while ago, but I can't find it now

Got an email this morning from Lovefilm. So, last week I get an email from them saying my account was now closed and I didn't owe anything more. This morning I get this:-
"Thank you for writing to us at LOVEFiLM.
We have checked your account details and found that there are outstanding charges on your account. Therefore, we request you to contact the concerned department at 0870 050 2190 and they will be happy to assist you."
So what's this? They've changed their minds? Can they do this?
I don't have a clue what I even owe for, I hired 1 DVD and sent it back 2 days later to get my free trial then spent the next 2 months trying to access my account so that I could cancel it.
