Santander are buying RBS branches in England, and Natwest branches in Scotland only. Scottish RBS and English Natwest branches are not affected.

And yes, NatWest is impacted, but it is the NatWest branches in Scotland that are being sold to Santander (Not those in England / Wales)

The RBS group isn't all becoming Santander, but they are selling off all the RBS branches in England, and all the NatWest branches in Scotland. They will be keeping RBS in Scotland and NatWest in England. This has been widely advertised, and discussed at great length on these forums. You can find full details on both the RBS and NatWest websites.

really?? I opened an account in portsmouth last week and no one mentioned a thing about this transfer to Santander!

They should have.

There's a booklet you should have been given and there's something that should have been brought up on screen before any application gets processed.

I'm not naive enough to think the correct process is followed though.

Just got letter from RBS saying that they are about to start the transfer of my account to a Scottish branch as I requested. Should be complete by the end of the year.
