I dont have anything running through external wall. When I had my boiler serviced a while ago. This was mentioned but I never got round to getting someone in to fix this. Is this going to prevent air discharge?

You must have, the boiler could not have been commissioned without this.
It's to release excess water, not air.

Based on the assumption that the boiler worked before, following your having the filing loop replaced, air in the boiler (as the problem) makes sense. The aav being broken may be correct since it would have vented otherwise. I would personally look at your service report and follow up on that too while you're at it.

Just dug out my service report which states:

The following remedial works are required:

"No pipe from PR valve to outside"

So might have been an idea to get it fixed back then as advised...
Any water flowing from the PRV will therefore discharge inside the boiler casing.
Who installed and commissioned this boiler?!

  • Just spoke to wochester tech team. Gonna cost £292 to get engineer out:( who says it doesnt sound like air trap but a temp problem as boiler shuts down because its overheating.

I am so confused and trying to sort this out while looking after 2 kids under 5 is incredibly stressful.

What now? Do I call out wochester themselves or call a boiler engineer. The one that came was a plumber.

You need a competent local GSR RGI who is familiar with your make and model. Not a plumber-a plumber is not qualified to work on gas boilers, unless GSR.
Get them to diagnose the current problem and install the overflow.
