repressuring a boiler

i just had the plumber in who did say that I needed to replace the filling loop. he has gone to get part. At £80 a hr, he has been gone for the last half hr, looking at about £200. I want to cry.0

It's a 15 minute job to change a filling loop as long as it's accessible. I cannot believe that most plumbers or RGI's would not carry one. And they cost about a tenner.
Time to get a new plumber. He's probably in the caff at your expense. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Agree with macman - got to be standard kit which is carried in the van. Mine was less than £9. Bit late now (sorry mate) but £200 is robbery.0

a lot of the cheap flexis are from china, and they fail very regular.

Thank you everybody for all you help and advice.
I feel so stupid now and I know I have just been ripped off. I tried to do some thing myself to save money but it ended up costing me a bomb. My name says it all really, you live and learn and I always learn the hard/expensive way.0 -
Is he still not back?! Nearest plumber's merchant/DIY shed cannot be more than 15 mins away, unless you live in the middle of nowhere.
But why did you call out a plumber who charges £80ph? That rate might be justified on an emergency out of hours job, but not on a normal day rate by appointment. Your fault is not a emergency. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I feel like I 'm in a neverending nightmare:(
Plumber been and gone. I now have no hot water. I think this is a boiler problem as I represurised the boiler and as plumber came to fix leak, I dont think I can call him bacK?
When I turn on the hot water tap, hot water initially comes out. The boiler fires up and as I look at temp gauge, it moves slowly from 1.5 to over 2 and then it stops firing and water goes luke warm then cold again.
Sorry to such a pain but any more advice?0 -
Is this a condensing boiler clueless (you have no hot water tank)?0
