mobile phone insurance recommendations

Hi,

I've decided to finally get with the times and invest in a clever phone (a Samsung Galaxy S2). In order to not spend too much on it I'm planning to buy the handset up front (from Amazon or something) and get a GiffGaff sim.

However since I'm going to be investing a rather alarming ~£400 in a little plastic thing that I carry around with me all the time, I'm thinking insuring it would be a good idea.

Does anybody have any good experiences/recommendations for respectable mobile phone insurers?

Thank you :)

Did you read Martin's article and the discussion thread?
    Mobile Phone Insurance
    Mobile Insurance

£100+30x£12 from mobiles.co.uk (on talkmogile) can be cheaper that £400+12x£10, especially after £30 cashback.
  • If you take out a Smile More account with the co-op you get mobile phone insurance from the Lifestyle Group (who supply Vodafone's own insurance) Full breakdown cover with the RAC including home assist, and worldwide travel insurance.

Its about the same price as stand alone mobile phone insurance.

Ah, thanks for the links @grumbler, I am obviously an idiot - looking for mobile insurance advice in the mobiles forum, rather than the insurance forum...

However reading the insurance thread it seems like there's no great option. On the positive side if I end up being uninsured at least I'm not a "serial phone loser". I always manage to keep my phones intact until the end of the contract and sell them on once I upgrade. (touch wood this trend will continue).

The Talkmobile deal looks fab though - almost too good to be true! Will have to investigate a bit.

I will also be checking out how much it would cost to add personal possessions cover to my home contents insurance. That might do the trick.
