Been to Mr T's to do a big shop (big for me anyway!) and spent £49.50. I now have full cupboards, lots of nice fresh stuff in the fridge, plenty in the freezer and enough laundry and household stuff to last a few weeks.

I try to spend £30 a week but this big shop takes me up to £103 for 3 weeks - £13 over budget. But I won't need much next week so hopefully it will even out, famous last words!

I've completely lost track, we've done really well as we somehow had 12 people round last weekend for drink and buffet for our daughters baptism. I was hating the purchasing as the bills kept coming, I think it came to about £180  then the gazebo I'd borrowed was blown away and damaged! I think about £60 of our food budget paid towards it as MIL paid £90 and we had £30 child benefit left.

Luckily my boss doesn't want the gazebo replacing and we all had a lovely afternoon.

Need to have 3 more cheap weeks, then we are away for our summer hols which means £130 in kennel fees for our dog

And once we're back, more cheap weeks to pay for xmas!

Small treat spend today of £1.56 on 3 donuts for me, OH and a friend to have with a cuppa. Silly really as I had just made 60 small iced cakes for a charity do. OH is away on Sunday for the week so I am eating out of the freezer while he is away and hopefully I won't need much shopping for the rest of the month.
Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot.
  • Hi
how this thread has grown since I last posted ,well not doing to bad .I have done two biggish shops since I was last on and a couple of small ones all in all spent £134.75 which brings me upto £167.76 and I have £57.24 left:eek: so is going to be hard to stay in budget:mad:
But looking at my recipts I can see where I can make savings, i.e.some of the small shops were where I had not made a pack up for my lunch or had forgotten to take something out of the freezer:mad: I have got to keep with this as I need the money that will be freed up for buying christmas presents.

Thanks for this - looks nice, might try it. Do you use plain flour when it says "white whole wheat flour"?!

This time I used Tesco value plain flour yes. The recipe says they don't spread. Mine do! I only put 6-8 on a Swiss roll tin. Hope you enjoy them :)
