  • Need2bethrifty - I have become just the same about looking for bargains!! I went out to Sainsburys tonight for some "Always" and came out with a half price organic chicken, basics sausages (20p), bag of salad (30p) bag of giant bakery cookies (40p) and BOGOF supersweet pineapple and tangerines. I didn't NEED any of it so I am cross with myself!

Tonight we had one of our Goodfellas pizzas (I managed to get the BOGOF deal at Co-op with my voucher - they were fine about it) with some Sainsburys yakiori chicken skewers so a nice wasy tea!

I made a bacon and egg pie last night and it was absolutely delicious - much nicer than a quiche IMO! I just used defrosted hm shortcrust pastry to line a 7" sandwich cake tin and threw in some l/o chopped up ham, a couple of l/o sausages and then I broke in 6 eggs and seasoned it. I put on a pastry lid and baked for 35 minutes at 180 and let it go cold and it was fab! I will be eating it for lunch until Saturday or Sunday though because kids don't like egg yolks now apparantly......

12 days left in my month so I am hoping to come in under budget!

Thanks recovering spendoholic, nice to know that I'm not alone in doing this - I know I will get around to using stuff eventually. I managed to find a couple of Asian supermarkets and went a bit daft stocking up on all manner of spices which were loads cheaper than SM and will get used eventually as I am going through an experimental phase at the moment and trying out loads of different indian meals and I'm even drinking tea made from cumin, coriander, cinnamon, fennel and fresh ginger....lovely;) Just about to search on the internet for Masala Tea...well it is National Curry Week :rotfl:.

I love the sound of your Bacon & Egg Pie, I was planning to have a Frittata for tea tonight but I may go and knock up a bit of pastry to do the pie instead.

NSD today - hopefully the first of many:D

I can put hand up for doing the same - I spot a bargain and even though I don't always need it at the time I can't resist:o.

Tuesday eve was typical - DD2 requested a mr mozzy's small salad (a- because it was a treat for winning game at school footy match and b -she was going straight onto training,so I thought £1.59 was fair expence) but i also bought chewing gum to keep in car, pack of vimto sweeties, 3 x mini boxes of fresh fruit reduced to 10p each, bag of fresh veg soup mix @10p and a bag of watercress @10p(that is now sat whilting in my fridge) Everything else eaten but watercress.

Just been to local shop while dog walking and bought onions, mushrooms and a couple of jars of coffee on offer - ran out of all yesterday but forgot milk.

Anyway need to add both mini shops - which total to £7.98 - to signature.

    Hi all,

    NSD for me today:T

DS2 has requested enchiladas for dinner tonight, and as I happen to have loads of peppers to use up, it sounds like a good option:p and will get me brownie points:D

Will need to pick up some veg tomorrow for next week, but hoping to spend less than £20 for the weeks shop, I will take £100 out of cashpoint (total household spends for week) and after fuel for the car will put any remaining cash in my 2nd purse tin, between that and my £1 a day tin, I must have about £50 now, so I want to at least double that for Christmas food/treats spends:A

Have a fab evening all xx
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Went to Mr S today and spent £31.94 (well actually I didn't spend anything as OH picked up the bill but for the sake of this challenge I am pretending I did) and another £14.80 in the local butchers. Total spent today £46.74 bringing my total spent to £127.47 and leaving me with £42.53 for the rest of the month.

I think I had better explain that OH and my monies are totally separate and his income/spends don't show on my household budget at all.

NSD today. The children asked for homemade chicken nuggets for dinner. I got a chicken breast out of the freezer this morning before work, and they had great fun making the nuggets when they got home! Made a mess, but great fun! And a cheap dinner. One chicken breast, a few chips, and a tin of spaghetti. Oh, and a piece of toast for my dd who "hates chips"! I had a load of chips with garlic ketchup (delish!) and a sausage. Cooked four sausages at the same time as dinner, for a Friday sandwich treaty filler. Nom nom! That'll be for the children, as I have some bacon needing using up, so I'll have bacon sandwiches tom, which are even nicer than sausage sandwiches!

I also had NSDs yest and Tues too. My children were supposed to go to their dad's, but he didn't want them as ds had been sick 36 hrs previously and his new wife is pregnant... Whatever! That meant that I had them tues, and therefore didn't go shopping. Result! Then, oh bought the ingredients for and cooked me a spag bol while I was out at work yest. Well, he used a tin of toms and some spaghetti from my stores, but left a pepper, some mushrooms, some tomato puree and lots of garlic in my fridge in return! Double result!!! Tomorrow will most probably be a NSD too, which will be a record four in a row for me. Then, I'll have to shop on Saturday as I'm doing the food for my son's party on Sunday. I have a partial home list too, and as I had budgetted £50 for party food, I shall sneak some home bits into that budget if I can!!

Hope everyone is finding some positives today.

    Hi all,

I have been naughty and spent £1.55 on a sprite, £.50 on a hot chocolate, £5.01 on bread and bacon, £3.77 ham and creme fraiche. I have 1 day left of this week and have so far spent £52.21 of my £50 total for the week. This isn't too bad at all :o)
