2L fresh milk £1.58 (I buy the filtered stuff so it stays fresh long enough for just me to get through it.)
Sausages 95p
Finger rolls 50p (These 2 are for a bbq with friends where we have to bring our own food.)
Value fruit squash 34p
Whole chicken £4 - Ready for the Chicken Tonight! It was the same price for 3 value breasts, figured I may as well get a whole chicken.
So total for today = £7.37.
Cooked up a batch of couscous with vegetables and salmon for some lunches. Not as cheap as sandwiches, but it makes a nice change! And it used stuff I already had in the house, including vegetables that needed using. Only 2 salmon fillets used for what probably totals about 5 lunches, since I basically pulled it apart into small bits.
Next time you do this buy a pack of smoked salmon trimmings. They sells these in Coop and Asda at approx £1 per 100g pack. I also use these to make salmon pasta-one little packet feeds 4 people.
I had a very frustrating day as drove to another shopping area to take dd for he job she is going to start and was planning to get a big 25kg bag of spuds and get my heels of my boots repaired on same trip. Had to return home as DH was being nasty to DS22 again again(thats a long long story and off topic)so couldnt buy what I needed. Took DH(I may rejig that name)for his hospital appt this morning and returned unwanted stuff to Wickes but bought some more stuff there. Grocerywise though it was an unwanted NSD(they do exist):mad::mad::mad::mad:Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
This week, I spent 15.90 in one shop then additional 3.50 for milk, eggs and two pots of jelly ( bogof) / as my son excedentally eat my new lodgers jelly rather then our home made ones ...Bless !! I also spend around £9 for two bottles of wine , due to a guest coming for dinner but only one used. I baked my own bread, and cake ( after spending just under £2 for a simple slice of cake at work I decided that I must know better hence baking a cake...)
So unbeliavable, I did not break the bank this week, I normally would spend £90 in a week never mind a month but I am really reading many good advice on the board and I think if I keep up , I will close the month in black ...
Good luck every oneDon't forget smiling:):)

£55.80 spent so far this month. Most of that spent in Morry's and a couple of £3 spends in I*eland. 4 pints of milk, Warburtons toastie and Allison wholemeal loaves are all £1 in I*eland and is just over the road from DS nursery so it's perfect for my little top ups
. I'll be doing my weekly shop tomorrow, popping to A!di before Morry's, getting things I know are cheaper there.
Flying visit tonight. Will have to catch up another time. Hope everyone is doing well and staying in control0 -
My signature is so scary (see below) - the thing is, if I'm spending this much while watching what I'm spending, how much was I spending before?
I'm still aiming for £500 over 30 ish days but having spent around £290 in 10 days I think I may just be setting a benchmark.
On the plus side, I haven't used my credit cards for over 2 weeks:money::money:0 -
Just did the shopping for Week 2, got some things that were on offer which I was intending to buy in Weeks 3 and 4... so saved some money buying them early!

Well yesterday I managed to only spend £1.10 for the milk. I try to buy the organic, and I cannot lift more then the 2pt one, due to my health problems. So i cannot get the cheaper prices by buying bigger cartons. I also noticed that it was only 99p 10 days ago, so as Mr T put down their prices on the Must have? items, they put it up on the organic!.
I may have to go back to non organic, as that was 89p for the equivelant size.
I have had two meals this last week given to me from one of my friends. Her son is doing cookery at school, and they get the practise meals the day before the cooking lesson, so I am getting the results. Luckily he is a good cook! so far we have had a Cottage Pie, and yesterday it was a goats cheese and veg flan. DGD was not so sure about the latter, but I really have enjoyed all his cooking.
I said if I ever won the lottery I would employ him as my chef!.
But on the plus side, not only do i not have to make a meal from scratch, I am saving as I havent had to pay for the ingredients!. Win win situation for me. (Wonder how many lessons he has in a fortnight?).When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hoping to manage a NSD today. We need milk but have about a pint left so will try and make do since it's just me and OH tonight and tomorrow morning. That should be enough for his 2000 cups of tea he seems to drink. Will make potato scones today for tomorrow mornings breakfast with an egg and fried toms from the greenhouse so he won't need milk for cereal. Dinner tonight will be salmon, broccoli and potato bake I think because DD hates salmon and she's out and we have quite a bit in the freezer. Whoops no I won't , not enough milk:o. Salmon and broccoli pasta then I think.Grocery challenge October: £228.28/£250.00 NSD 4 ( not completed)
Grocery challenge November : £291.65/300.00 NSD 10
Grocery challenge December : £0/240.00 NSD0 -
I have to add £9.95 for my local veg box that's just been delivered. I'm so pleased as i had a great haul this time of 5kg potatoes, 1kg new potatoes, 1 bunch of carrots, onions, an enormous cauliflower, a cabbage, 3 pieces of broccoli, a swede, 1kg parsnips 2 huge leeks and a bunch of asparagus!!! I foresee a big pan of veggie soup in the future lol.:rotfl:
The best thing is that it has all been grown just a few miles away and most of it was picked this morning so it's as fresh as you can get.0
