First weekly shop done. Spent £52.84 on groceries, household items and delivery charge - this is £2.84 over my budget - oh dear. I also slipped on Saturday as went to the bakers and spent £4.55 on bread and cakes as my father had visited and £1.45 on an ice-cream.

That is a total of £58.84 so far for this week (all spent on the first day) so we must not spend any more this week. I do have all the ingredients for this weeks meal plan so it's all good.

  • Morning All,

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine and resisting spending extra on ice creams lol :)

Another shop done here, went to Mr S and thanks to special offers and a few vouchers we did a £48 shop including laundry and cleaning stuff for £33.95

Leaving us £48.40 for the rest of our month (until the 25th October) Shouldn't be a problem though, all we need are the fresh bits and some biscuits .....

I made the mistake of going into Mr S without a list on a very busy saturday. I only managed to come out with sausages, bread, eggs and milk as I got too frustrated with the crowds, so I guess I'll be eating out the freezer and cupboards this week! I think I'll book an online shop for next weeks shopping!

  • Last night around 8pm my friend from home told me he was coming down to see me as a surprise visit which was lovely. We went to Tesco. I withdrew my budgeted £20 and I spent £6.58 from my enjoyment money on a bar of chocolate and a reduced bottle of red wine. I was pleased with myself for avoiding the magazine aisle, and also for only buying reduced produce.
I also spent £4.18 out of my grocery budget on - own brand light mayonaise (I have 8 cans of tuna in the cupboard), the cheapest possible sugar, carots reduced from £1 to 20p, and some double concentrate squash. My NSD failed but we had a lovely evening catching up and watching the finale of Dr. Who/ the brand new Merlin.

Today we don't really have much of a plan but it is lovely and sunny so we might go for a walk into the hills with aforementioned tuna sandwiches before coming back and baking something good/ cooking vegetable stir fry.
I have some premix for key lime cheesecake but it requires all sorts of things like marscapone which at the moment isn't in my interest to buy. If I have money left out of my grocery budget at the end of the month then I will buy it and have a whale of a time making it :)

I'll be back later, I hope you all have a wonderful day. x

  • Well, I added up my Sept receipts and unless I've mislaid a load, I did really well - £197.60!! I know there are a few missing, but not £200 worth! I'm going to leave this months's budget at £400 tho, as I've obviously really lost touch with what I'm spending! If I do as well this month, I'll slash it for November!:)
Did my first shop of the month - £37.31 in MrA plus £5.23 in Lidl, mostly on fruit. Have to go to MrT today (grumble, grumble) as daughter needs cookery ingredients for school. Will buy ONLY those ingredients, even tho she is insisting on accompanying me!
  • Happy Sunday everyone!
Well I was intending on it being a NSD day yesterday but Saturdays are so hard, especially with a 2 year old in tow!
I did get a bargain of 2 bottles of really good quality high juice, 2 x 1 litres for £1.50. My LO goes through it so quickly, and I'm not keen on him having too many artificial sweeteners, so was quite happy with this. Then spent another £1.50 at the chip shop for some tea, then a further £3.58 on a cheapo bottle of plonk which is a Saturday night staple in my opinion!
So all in all a Saturday grocery spend of £6.58 which isn't too bad i guess!
Off to embark on an Ald! shop now, so going to do a little stocktake of the cupboards and make a list. Will try my best to keep it under £15, but need the expensive stuff like chicken/fruit/veg. Hope they have some good super 6's on today!!

    Hi all,

    NSD today :D

WM on its 2nd load DW emptied, re-filled and on again - bloomin fat fryer cleaned:mad: washing on the line.:T

Making a chicken and veg 'chuck-it-all-in' thing tonight as I cleaned the fridge and some sad-looking veg needs using up - might be cooler later on as its too hot to think about cooking yet.

Have a great day all x

  • Hi all,
Did a large shop at Sainsbugs yesterday that came to £80, with an added £10 in Aldi and £20 in Lidl today. Hoping that will cover us for the next week or so with only the odd top up needed. Have done a meal plan for the next two weeks and the stuff bought covers that nicely.
So fingers crossed and good luck guys and gals for October :D.
