Right, trying again:o Completely lost it in Sept and have no idea how much we spent. I don't think it was too bad but with a few bad weeks at school I was too busy to come on here and change my signature.
Yesterday we spent £11.47 in B&M which included 2 bottles of wine. Then £10 on the market on fruit and veg and £25.44 in Mr S so £46.91 in all.
Today I went into Mr S as I realisied I had forgotten to get wholemeal flour for school. I ended up buying meat markdowns - £4.07 for a pork joint, and then a packet of beef stirfry, a packet of beef escalopes and two lots of reduced free range chicken thigh fillets all half price but another £10.17.
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

Just thought I'd pop on and update my sig. Friday did our big monthly shopping - £46.16 at A*di , £42.16 at T*esco after vouchers. That did include OH's moisturiser that costs £7ish. I think we're quite well stocked now esp for meals so will be super frugal the rest of the month, lots of veggie food!! Managed to get much needed new toothbrushes and DD's requested deodorant with points at Boots so no spending there.

Going to make chocolate brownies this afternoon. And for dinner, not sure yet- maybe green gnocchi.

  • Hi All

First week shop done. We spent £68.59 with £61.50 in Sainsburys plus £7.09 in fruit and veg shop.

Cupboards and freezer are well stocked now so hoping to be well below £50 next week.

    Good luck all..

Hello! Can I join this month please?

I have been really keeping an eye on how much I spend exactly on groceries and last month it came in at £350. This includes everything from cleaning to nappies. I would love to get it down to £300!

My OH has decided he wants to work less hours (don't we all) so he can spend more time with the kids in the holidays. Work have agreed it, but it means we will be about £120 worse off every month. It would be amazing if I can save this amount. I already saved £50 on petrol last month by walking more and doing essential journeys only. So another £50 on groceries I would be nearly there. Will be looking at some of the recipes posted here and I will post my weekly receipts.

  • Hi,
Well I went over budget in September by about £22, but still quite pleased with that, as I bought a few bits that were on offer, but weren't needed quite yet. First spend of October today, again didn't need much at all, but i've decided when I see a bargain i'm going to stock up, rather than worry about coming in on budget, as long as i don't go mad, I have some leeway in the budget, and it will all work out in the end. I hope. So spent £46.58, bought lots of toiletries that were on offer in Mr. A, and pasta stir in sauce, I usually like to make my own, but having a really hard time at work with lots of changes, just started the third year of my degree, and just feel I need to cut myself some slack.
Anyhow enough of my ramblings. Have a good week everyone x

OK, after finally managing to talk it over with Him Indoors, we're going to set our budget at £100 this month, please Helen - at his suggestion, no less :D.

This is a bit bold, to my mind - I nearly said 'too ambitious', but I'm up for having a go

This won't include our anniversary mini-splurge [probably a night or two at a seaside B&B - our only holiday this year, plus cinema and meal out - both with vouchers].

We managed 11 NSDs last month, and I definitely want to increase the number this month. I won't set a target in my sig, but hope to do at least 15.

So far, it's £1.15 spent yesterday on bread, and an NSD today. [If we succumb to my heat-affected whims and nip out for ice cream later, it's coming from the FUNds - if ice cream doesn't make it into the freezer, it doesn't count as groceries! :rotfl:]

Thanks to all involved in the upkeep of this thread, and good luck everyone.
Haven't done the GC since February, but a glance at the Tower of Receipts tells me I really need to get back into it... and plenty of other Challenges besides. :o
  • Not been on here for ages but need to get a grip! Can you please put me down for £450 this month please. This is for 3 adults, 2 teenagers and a dog. Thank you

Aiming for £160 this month, am behind the thread again. Updated in the last thread.
