Thought I would do a quick update, yesterday I had a NSD but today I had to buy a loaf of bread for 47p so thats it so far this week, mind you I went into my cupboards and freezer yesterday and wrote down everything, and I reckon I have enough to not do major shops for a couple of weeks, I havent done this before but after reading different comments it spurred me on and made me realise how much food I actually had in, so this month I may come in under budget and any money not used will be helping pay off my cc. I will do a signature when I work out how to do it.£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund0

That's just not on:mad: hope you can get something sorted.recovering_spendaholic wrote: »my oldest works and earns a good wage, but doesn't pay any keep and won't do so (that's a discussion for another thread I think....)
If he's earning, he should pay something - if he won't stop doing his washing (if you do) and providing meals for him, he'll soon start!
It may sound harsh but honestly if they are earning, they should contribute. I'm sure you did!Anyhow went to Waitr@se as they have cat food on offer. Spent £50 on catfood (different budget) and saved £24.60!!
Thanks for that - just off to Waitrose website just now for a look, have quite a bit of cat food (also separate budget for this) but always good to stock up if the offers are great!:Ddont think i did too badly on the actual grocery spends for a change but the budget took a serious hammering due to bump deciding to finally put in an appearance
Congratulations!:D

Not off to the best start...hubbie did the Iceland shop today whilst I was visiting relatives...got things not on my list and needs to pop back out to T xpress to get something we really needed for tonight's dinner that he forgot...ho hum.
Not out of my groceries account but painful nonetheless...I spent £25 on birthday pressies for my best friend and auntie plus £40 on filling the car up to visit both- had a lovely corned beef pie at auntie's though and she gave me one to bring home and freeze!
My menu for the week:
Sat - homemade pizza (when hubbie gets the mozzarella and pepparoni he forgot!)
Sun - buttnernut squash soup/homemade bread
Mon - ready meals...I'm in uni until 9.30 pm
Tues - chicken curry (bulk cooked last week)
Wed - pasta and sauce (also bulk made...tonnes in the freezer)
Thur - fish pie and peas (from Iceland)
Fri - moroccan lamb and couscous (bulk cooked last week)
We spent £16 in Iceland today and aim for £30 in Mr A's tomorrowMortgage starting balance - [STRIKE]£151,030 [/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£143,733.28[/STRIKE] £137,000 (25 years to go...):o0 -
May I please join, Put me down for £130 for Oct.
Thats for two of us.
I dont need to buy any toiletries or cleaning goods until well into the new year.
Thank you
£130 sounds like it would be an impossible task for me and my other half, if I could spend as little as this I'd be a happy lady! How do you do it?!on the road to recovery..:o0 -
First shop today, £4 in Icel*nd (good for cheap veggie sausages!) and £16 in M0rris0ns (including Bulgar Wheat which I'm going to try for the first time along with some roasted veggies - hope it's nice, can't afford to waste it!
)
This month I'm really going to try to cook more from scratch and stop buying ready meals :A0 -
I was going to make this chicken bhuna and then freeze the remainder, 4 chicken breasts will be too much for two! Would that be ok to freeze? I've noticed that they usually put a "freezable" logo on their recipes.
Spent last night in the kitchen, I think I got my multiples wrong as my 50% extra on everything has made a hot dish! Takes our food supply to 21 dishes so just need to add our Sunday lunch and Saturday tea to that0 -
already done some spending today lol went to two local shops...so im up to £14.59 already!!! eeekkk
im away two nights this week but only going to count food from supermarkets and shops etc as part of my grocery budget..Learning to keep within budgets !
