for November :j Really pleased with myself, been making packed lunch for my OH every day in his new job whereas he used to spend £2-£3 per day at the canteen in his old job. We've done well this month :) Being thrifty really doesn't come naturally to us and we are learning all the time.
The above total includes a £22 spend for today.

Thanks to everyone who runs and contributes to the GC thread! Its a pleasure to save with you :)

    See you in November!

    GC2012: Nov £130.52/£125

Engaged to my best friend 08/2012:heart2:

  • I'm done for October, my target was £260 for the month, and I split this into weekly budgets of £60, which I did manage to stick to completely until this last week, when I just lost track and gave up. So I'll declare at £270 , which I'm still really pleased with as its my first time trying.

    Onwards and upwards for November!
  • I finished the month ( from 28th Sept to 28th Oct) now and spent £80 as estmated...This feels good. I am not going to do Nov and Dec challanges because I am now on Diet Cheff , this means doubling up my spending for food but it is ok and all planned before hand...
    Don't forget smiling :):):)

2 more NSD's added to my total this weekend.
I only have tomorrow left to get through for this month and I should not need anything, but I will not declare yet just in case.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

After my disasterous attempt to do an online shop yesterday (failed miserably after 2+ hours:mad:) I'm going to declare at £95.93 / £100 for October.

Just managed to scrape in under budget - I think being housebound has helped as the temptation to stop in at the shops on the way home hasn't been there!:o

Need to try to keep this up once I'm out and about again which will be a lot harder:(. A bigish online order every couple of weeks may be the way to go but I do miss actually going into the shop (does that make me odd?) so not sure I'll be able to keep this up!:)

I keep saying I am going to do online shoping in future but I must now see the fact that I like going to the shops and online you don't get the woopsies so no thrill! On;ine also not parting with real cash which is easier to keep track of than plastic. Now I could list the benefits of online shopping also but I thought Id let you know you are not in the least bit odd!:T:A
All I really need to get now on my last day for Oct is to stock up on loo rolls and kitchen rolls and Im going to get about 2 months supply in Farmfoods as Im near there tomorrow and no idea of when I am next in the area-different budget though as Im not keeping GC for food only.
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

Another NSD today, so I've made my target of 15. I did mean to go to Mr T for a couple of things [tbh, mostly for the walk], but, erm, fell asleep for a few hours and missed it :o

So it's one day left to add to our overspend before our November GC begins. Time to check the meal plan and work out how little we can get away with buying...
Haven't done the GC since February, but a glance at the Tower of Receipts tells me I really need to get back into it... and plenty of other Challenges besides. :o

Well it all went a bit wrong, my oh went to the shop yesterday and spent nearly £30, I know not all was on groceries but then he has lost the receipt so I can't add it on. I am going to add £20 as a guess so I have come under budget and reached my NSd target so really please.

Dropping budget by £10 so please can I be put down for £410 for november

    Morning all

Sitting at £288.28/£400 at the moment. Will need milk and few bits today so I have to say I am delighted at this total. Meat and chicken from freezer well run down so will be watching for whoopsies this coming week.

Made a great meal yesterday that served 6 and have enough left to feed 4 today.

Reduced fillets chicken and thighs made into 2 different curries, rice. home-made chips from our own spuds, whoopsied flat bread.

It was absolutely delicious and will taste even better today.

I would say that it was well under £5 and I feel really good about this. It can be done and this gives me the momentum to keep being as frugal as I can be.

Helen thank you for looking after us all and please put me down for £400 for November.. Thank you

Well done to all this month.
    take care

Well I've failed miserably this month after doing so well I think I have came in at about £50 over budget  stopped tracking it properly when I realised I had went over.

Try to do better next month.
  • This month I have economised on milk without suffering in any way simply by buying the full fat milk instead of the Semi skimmed and watering it down. Tastes the same! I find that I can add about 1.5 pints to a fourpinter or you could try adding 500ml to a 2 litre. Start off small by adding just half a pint to your four pinter and if you don't notice it(you won't ) then next time add a pint. See how it goes-I think I could probably get away with adding 2 pints of water to 4 pints of milk-i am working up to it!
I pour off some of the milk from the "new" bottle" and top up that new bottle with water. Ive been measuting in a jug. I pour this excess milk into my current nearly empty bottle so that Ive now got room for the "extra" milk. Nobody here has noticed :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

:o I think I am probably part responsible for the high milk consumption (I like milky coffee) I had thought about buying UHT milk and using that for my coffee to leave the fresh stuff for the kids. Or perhaps I need to cut down on the milky rocket fuel :rotfl: some days though it is the only thing that keeps me going! Thanks for you post - at least I have a couple of options to try and reduce our consumption :)

While I am here I will declare at £398.05 thanks to some vouchers I had I have scraped in *just*

Thanks to everyone posting their ups, downs and advice.
