Hi there been massively busy this month and have completely lost the plot. Son has now moved out and I gave him £2000 over this month. I'll start again for November with a new budget.

  • Budget - £100
    Spent - £88.76
    Left - £11.24
Pet store - £6.58. Although we had enough chinchilla food to last until around the 20th of November we are trying to get a store of chinchilla food in to rival our human store :rotfl:. That £6.58 equates to around 70 days worth of chinchilla food. We have orded in a bulk buy for next month :o (paying for it when we collect) and that will be a little under £9 and will equal to around 112 days worth of food for them (got a small discount because of the bulk buying :T as should be £9.54). That will mean we should have enough food for them until mid May (112+70=182 days which = 26 week) so no worries about running out of food for them when it gets colder/icey/snowy etc :D. That is a real worry for me but when we collect that order I will be able to relax a bit more as then the only worry for them will be hay.

  • Right, am very cross with myself - nothing major really but DD2 invited friends round yesterday and because I had little in the way of teen friendly food had to go to Mr M's.
Tis' true my fridge was extremely bare as my Nov budget started today so wasn't intending to buy anything, but of course one of DD2 friends is on a healthy eating diet after spending a couple of days in London and admiting to eating "far too much" - realised that was a hint that the chilli con carne intended for tea was not wanted.:o

So bought a huge chicken lettuce and other stuff to make simple chicken salad for her and chicken caeser salad for rest of those who wanted it. Used the two breasts to feed five of us - the wings and legs have bagged up to make a portion of garlic & lemon "dump chicken" which is now in freezer. Stock from carcus just cooling and dog got two meals from scraps - but am cross as I now have to add £18.02 to Oct budget(ermm botTle of white wine went in as I realised half way round shop that it was not going to be a cheap meal) ........off to update and get across to Nov thread quick!:)

I haven't had a chance to post my final total for October yet even though my month ended on the 21st! My final total was £542.93 a massive £162.93 over my stab in the dark budget:o I did manage to record every single spend but what is worrying was at the end of the month we had nothing in the house to eat and had run out of dw tablets, kitchen towel, loo roll, bin bags and all sorts of other stuff.

Done a meal plan for this month and have shopped differently, doing a big shop at the beginning of the month and avoiding top ups....so far so good:)

Off to catch up with the last few pages and post my already huge November total in the November thread.

Treated ourselves on the way home to a couple of bottles of wine from Al Di for £9.98, was hoping they would last the weekend but suspect they'll have disappeared by bedtime

Had a rough night last night and spent the day feeling like I am coming down with something (headcold?) so really did not feel up to cooking much today, ended up going to Mr M to get fishfingers, came away £41.61 lighter (expensive fishfingers! lol), that takes me over budget, but on the plus side, my freezer is full again and children are happy because I treated them to some ice cream and fizzy.

Off to curl up with a hot milk and a book.

Another no spend day on groceries, but take advantage of sainsburys toy sale and bought a couple of things for DGS & DGD but that came out of different budget.

I still have another week to go before my November budget starts, as I dont get paid until next Friday and then its every 4 weeks so I find it easier to go in 4 week blocks, so Im beginning to feel a little left behind!!!!!

Determined to keep to the low budget this week, still have a bit of food in cupboards and freezer so essentials to be bought.

In entirely expected news, I've slipped over budget - £2.47 spent yesterday, £2.63 today.

Hey, I might not have made it to the end of the calendar month, but I made it to payday [today] within budget :rotfl:

I'm going to squeeze in at least one more NSD before the end of the month, and keep any spends to a minimum [certainly don't want to go more than a tenner over budget].

Spigs - excellent advice, thank you. I need to update my stocktake list, stay out of shops more, and take a flippin' list when shopping needs to be done (not just nip in when passing) - my resolve is much better than it used to be, but I can still go a bit rogue ;)

Thanks to everyone keeping the GC threads going, both by participating and doing the admin. I love the supportive atmosphere, top tips and ideas. Keep up the great work...

...and I hope you feel better soon, Sproggi :)
Haven't done the GC since February, but a glance at the Tower of Receipts tells me I really need to get back into it... and plenty of other Challenges besides. :o
