chezza262 wrote:Hi,
I applied for TNS about two weeks ago and got a short email today saying I had been unsuccessful. I spent ages filling in their questionnaire according to the advice booklet and as a Sociology student am used to filling in surveys and taking notes! The email doesnt explain why I was unsuccesful, has anybody else been refused recently or is it just me..........?
As a reasonably intelligent person (even if i do say so myself) i'm slightly disappointed.
I got rejected too. I've been mystery shopping for over 2 years and only just applied to TNS. I queried why I had failed and they told me my score and what the pass mark was. They also said I could apply again and I have done so. I'm now waiting to hear back from them again. If I fail again though I'm not sure I'll try again. I really don't know what they want for their answers.0 -
nooksky wrote:I have joined up to grass root mystery shoppers, I also do gap buster and find them very annoying and are very tight with payments.
Are the assignments on grass root like gapbuster where you do a client search or do they send you assignments in your area?
Thanks
Grass Roots will send you an email with assignments available in your area. To accept the assignment you phone a FREEPHONE number, entering the assignment number and the date you can complete it (usually they let you choose from Mon to Fri) If it is still available they tell you there and then that it is yours. It is all automated and reliable.
A few days before the assignment they send you the questionnaire to read through and then on the day you agreed you do the shop.
You come home, complete the assignment on the website (links are all in your brief) and you're home and dry.
If they need proof of purchase, they ask for the reciept numbers etc, but you don't have to scan them or anything.
I find it really easy and never had a problem yet.
I get lots of assignments and guess I am the only person available in my area sometimes. Some weeks I can get none, others upto 4, you never know.
In case there are a few MS's in your area, I would advise you to take the job as soon as you read the email.
Good Luck, and any more questions, please ask.
PS - STAY AWAY FROM NORTH MANCHESTER - THATS MY PATCH :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
I worked for Gapbuster, I took a job at a petrol station which turned out to be derelict. I was only on expenses and since I couldn't buy petrol they didn't pay me anything. I complained and refused to take the next assignment they offered until I got paid and can no longer login or contact them. Fly by night company if you ask me! They're also based in Australia so you can't pop in with any problems.0

Dazzieboo wrote:I now audit for them as well and love it, it is better money and regular work and fits in with their other little jobs which are not so well paid.
Why do you love it, I also did the audits, and what is so good about them? you get £8.00 for getting grief from managers etc, and having to pay for your time, NI Contributions, Travel, Paper, food.....
What exactly do you love about doing audits? £8 for 30-45 mins work isnt too bad but at the end of the day, you get £10.00 for doing the mystery shops and that takes a lot less time...

I don't do the audits in the computer shop as the fee didn't interest me, I do the audits in the petrol stations where the fee is at least triple what you have mentioned, because it is part of client confidentiality, I am not allowed to mention the actual fee, but for the work involved and the fee paid, it is considerably more than some which other companies offer. You also get a printing allowance which isn't offered on the other jobs. I do this line of work full time and I am quite happy fitting in the lower paid work with the better paid work especially if mileage is being paid by one of the companies."Dogs come when they are called. Cats take a message and get back to you" :j :j0 -
does anybody know of any other reliable mystery shopper websites?0

There is definately a knack to doing Audits and my own experience is to not take them too literally and use a lot of judegment.
Audits for me are the best part of the job - I have have done over 100 now and they are great fun. You get to chat with the staff, listen to their woes and then find they are offering you tea, coffee, biscuits and cakes! (Which of course tyou politely decline!) - I was even asked on a staff night out at one of the Audit sites!I find if you approach them with an open mind and just be there as a listening body it wins them over.
My other tip with Audits - Technically you are not allowed to discuss the results or the contents of the Audit with the site manager. However, there is nothing to stop you maybe doing a floor walk with the site manager after your Aduti to discuss 'generics' about site cleanliness and presentation. I found some sites didnt really understand what the Audits were looking for. So I spent some time with the managers discussing Store Presentation. The sites all improved afterwards and standards were maintained for a year afterwards easily. To me, that was a huge huge amount of job satisfaction and highlighted that there is a lot more to it than just 'Freebies'
Like Dazzieboob, I do this almost full-time and earn almost as much as my main job each month. I find the mix and match approach works well if you register with a few companies. You can spread costs and go to more exciting locations than just your city because the costs even out. But you need to build up to that and work on your reputation - You would be surprised the amount of higher paid work that companies hold back for their 'preffered' shoppers.0 -
I've just enjoyed my free home delivered pizza
and a 5 min report. no fee, but will make £2 as the reimbursement is more than the actual spend.
i love the mystery shopping, most of my social life is paid/subsidised for by it - pubs and restaurants. its a fun night out normally.0 -
