ebay estimated delivery times

Options
twice in the past 24hrs buyers have left positive feedback but with comments like

'Pleased with item, delivery could be quicker'
'As described - quite slow delivery'

even though both items arrived within 'ebay estimated delivery times' as shown on the listings. to add insult to injury, chances are i got nice phat low dsr for dispatch too.

so what part of the delivery times are these buyers not understanding? really does make a mockery of the whole system

It is a buyers perception of how well you do against other sellers- so if they nromally get their goods in 24-48 hours but you don't despatch until that time then you 'look' slower. It is what we all have to deal with.

Unfortunately buyers expect their items to be sent the same day, or the next day at the very latest.
They also get confused between despatch & delivery time when leaving DSR's.

2 working days. 2nd class. free p&p. that is irrelevant. by committing to buy then the buyer is agreeing to the listing specifics inc delivery times. if they are not happy with the specifics in the first place, then they go elsewhere. now if the item is late and arrives outside the delivery times then yes give me all you got.
  • few buyers bother with the difference between dispatch and delivery.

They only notice how quickly it's seemed to arrive.

A buyer of mine paid on the 4th day after the sale, I posted same day and they received it the next day- my feedback? You've guessed it -a neg saying 'very slow to arrive'. I managed to get it removed by eBay luckily.

Could you tighten up your dispatch times?

And I suppose you'll have to put your items on free p&p for a while to get your stars up again, sigh...:(

thanks. they are tight already and can't go any tighter.

Regardless of your terms a buyer is judging you against other sellers, it is immaterial whether or not you follow the despatch times in your auctions.

  • It's true what soolin says, even if you're sticking to what you said you would do, buyers are leaving their opinion and there's not much you can do to change that. I don't necessarily think you're being unreasonable, it's just that becasue of the DSR system you risk restrictions/losing your seller account if your stars drop too low. for a small scale seller (and I am one) it is a big risk.

    too many comps..not enough time!

Its not irrelevant as all buyers can rate your postage in DSRs low DSRS effect your selling.

If you're sending 2nd you really need to be sending quicker. Its

yes, sorry I should have mentioned in my earlier post that I am not saying what OP is doing is wrong it is just unfortunate that buyers sometimes mark us all down for things that we say quite clearly we are going to do.

One tip though (and i'm sure the OP wouldn't do this anyway) don't whatever you do put anything in your listings about bidders reading and accepting your despatch times- being defensive just seems to result in lower stars. Your despatch times are fine, yes you won't always get perfect stars but if they are the best times you can manage then unless you meet too many numpties you will be fine.
