Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 25th September. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Hugs to Bargain Bird, I hope you feel better soon
We didn't get the promised sunshine yesterday, it was overcast all day.
WM is on & so is the DW, no idea what I'm cooking for lunch today as we are out for part of the day at DD1's.
Have a lovely day everyone.
Hugs Hester

  • Hello Hester, Foreversaving and all to follow.

Have posted here for ages again  must do better.

We have had lovely drying weather last couple of days so the wm has been doing overtime. Have mainly cleared the ironing pile and my aim is to start the week with no ironing :D

Today have to leave with DS and his friends for football at 11.30, our match is miles away so not looking to be home till 4ish :(. Have an oakam chicken from M&S offer for dinner so will prep everything before I go, want to have a tidy and wash my car but think that might have to wait.

Nothing else to day :eek:so will get going, have a great day all.x

Anyone who has anything to do with churches knows that Sunday is certainly not a day of rest! My mother used to refuse to sing a hymn (very old fashioned) which began, 'O, day of rest and gladness.'
The vicaress has a couple of services today, one of them Harvest Festival. She was in the church yesterday while it was being decorated, trying to persuade a gentleman to display a very rude carrot he had brought along.
I do this thing of being in church all morning but still having a traditional roast lunch on the table by 1.00pm. Sometimes I manage it but it takes a bit of forward planning - which I find very challenging.

It's going to be a lovely day here today but not much OS going on. I do have to make Sunday a bit different, if not restful!
Enjoy the last day of the weekend everyone. When I retired, everyone at school said, "Oh! You'll miss the Friday evening euphoria." To which I replied, "Maybe. But I won't miss the Sunday evening depression."
To all you workers, - I mean people who work OUT of the home, - don't even think about Monday morning till tonight.
Love to all who need it.

    Morning All

Online shop coming today - think i'll have a little sort out of the cupboards before it arrives.

Twins last Sunday living at home so I'm going to do a big dinner and Lamb which is their favourite and as DH is working they can pile on the mint sauce as he cant stand the smell of it!

Priced up a carpet for the twins room which the girls are moving into yesterday so as soon as they leave we will be painting and recarpeting it (trust me - it is in dire need!) ready for the girls to move into then we'll decorate ours.

Need to clean and hoover thru downstairs today once everyone's awake - DH had a good sort out of the lounge on friday but cleaning is really not his thing lol

    Have a good day xx

Night 1 over and done only 2 more to go then some days off. Just having breakfast before I go to bed. Love this time of day after a night shift, always seems a bit melancholy to me and always such a relief to be home.

BITSY hope your DS has a lovely birthday. Will have a look at the cake later.

CANDYGIRL SOTD doesn't know how lucky she is to have you to babysit. I really struggle to get a night out .

Will probably make some soup when I get up to take to work.

Have a good day all and hugs to those who need one

  • Morning all :)

DH took DS out fishing yesterday so I made the most of being on my own and got on top of all my housework/de-cluttering only a few more bits to do in the house then I will be on top of it. :j

DH has been given the job of putting up a curtain pole up ready for my door curtain to go up in the hall way, last year it was blooming freezing in our hallway so hopefully having a thick curtain up at the front door will keep the warmth in.

Not got alot to do today, just going to potter around the house, DH is going to cut the front lawn and get the flower beds ready for the winter flowers to go in so will maybe go out and help him

Dinner today is roast Chicken with all the trimmings...With HM made apple crumble for pudding.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday... x
