AOL stores old emails in a format that only it can read - can't remember now where they are but I think I found it by saving one to harddrive and then looking for files that had been updated in the last 5 minutes! What you can't do (because its one file not a folder of files!) is combine ones on one computer with ones on another because you'd end up losing what is on the computer you transfer to. What we did was set up a spare user account on the new computer, and then change the folder that you transfer over to match that name. If you want to access those files you then log into AOL on the spare account and get to them there.Adventure before Dementia!0

Dave I refer to files stored on my pc, and Not on aol server option, is this what you mean in your first sentence too?
What if I put the drive with the files on into my pc and make e drive, then use files from that?
When reinstaling xp, and getting aol as homepage, aol asked if it wanted me to copy over settings and password, does that make sense?
I will do that as a second choice but i prefer to put them on laptop vista.0
