The older Passat A4 were more similar than the current crop.
A3 = Golf?
Traffic warden = stupid?
Anyway for all we know it might be a 20-year-old car and they looked pretty similar, as you say..0 -

Anyway for all we know it might be a 20-year-old car and they looked pretty similar, as you say. Audi 80 = Passat
As far as I'm concerned if the council can't employ people with enough sense to look at the badge on the back, then they don't deserve the money.
Irrespective of moral issues.I have a cunning plan!

For those interested, the car is an A4.
For those of you taking the moral high ground, please ignore the thread.
I had absolutely no idea I shouldn't have been parking there, and as I suffer from M.E. it wasn't possible to park further away. I have been refused a blue badge as although my condition is deemed to be severe enough to get one, I have not been given one on the grounds that my illness may not be permanent.
Also please try paying a fine like this when on benefits.
I can understand tickets where you are an obstruction or taking a place someone needs but the whole car park was empty so I think the ticket was unjustified.
Thanks to those with helpful advice0 -

I'd write to them and say you returned to your car (don't mention where it was parked) to find a ticket for a Volkswagen car, but your car is not a Volkswagen. Leave it up to their finest legal minds to decide what they want to do about it.
Interesting point in one of those links I've posted above about waiting until they send a notice to your home, in case they look up the details of your car and fill them in correctly on the 2nd notice. Not sure whether that would really happen but it's worth considering I guess..0 -

...If they've got the make wrong, (which is a form requirement), then who's to say they did'nt get the wrong car - ie: Chose the VW for the ticket but wrote out the registration for the Audi?
Could be they started with the VW, got distracted/harassed etc then turned back to the wrong car.
Fundamentally, the details of the form are incorrect - regardless of the moral issues.0 -
I know this is no help to your current predicament but can you not appeal against the blue badge refusal? - maybe ask for a timelimited one that you have to reapply for every year or so if they are available - there are so many people out there with these blue badges who literally skip to where they are going (usually because they are using one belonging to a disabled relative!) that if you really need one at the moment I would push as hard as possible
If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

Thanks for that, yes I did appeal but got nowhere. However I was told that the rules are being changed on this and within the next year or so I might be successful. I thought the same myself - is ridiculous not giving one to me because I may not be ill forever since they make you keep reapplying with details of your condition anyway!0 -
Dont pay up but write saying you dont own the make of car they say you do, at worst they can say the ticket stands at best ticket gets cancelled"Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0

Been there and tried it
My wife's Ford Puma got ticketed and labelled as a Ford Probe.
You'll get a standard letter back telling you the digital camera picture will be presented as evidence if you contest it.
in today's Britain, it ain't worthwhile incurring Court costs trying to wriggle on a technicality if you were illegally parked.
Pay the parking tax and put it down to experience. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0
