If anyone is on face book Dogs today want's to talk to people who are being affected by this.
Below is copied and pasted from facebook.
Do you know anyone who had pet insurance with Lloyds or the Halifax? Been asked to find some case studies for BBC radio 4 of people affected by them pulling out of pet insurance. Can you pass this around urgently - let's put a bit of pressure on these guys to sort this out properly. My email beverley @dogstodaymagazine.co.uk ( no spaces) urgent!0 -
Do you think this applies to us Petguard Insurance people who were let down badly last year?
I suppose the Lloyds/Halifax thing is getting more attention because far more people are affected.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

Perhaps they don't realise it's happened to others, get in touch and let them know it can't hurt and you never know.

Hi,
Just happened upon this thread by accident.
I too have Halifax extra insurance, held since 2007, and claim regularly for my dogs ongoing skin condition.
My policy isn't up for renewal until April, but have been paying £41 each month in good faith that my dog would always be covered for this complaint.
I can't believe this. Certainly will be up for a complaint to the Ombudsman. Has anyone had any success with this yet? Are there any template letters around to start the process? Have lodged a complaint with Halifax, but am I right in thinking I have to allow them to respond before contacting the Ombudsman?
Rubbish! Another thing to have to deal with and get stressed about!
Thanks for drawing it to my attention.

I think its really awful this is happening. I wonder which insurer will go next, its very worrying if you have an ongoing condition. Im with M and S for one dog who has a lifetime condition of dry eye.
Those with skin probs, can I just suggest you try dermacton aromesse (I use the soap blocks mainly now) which has been a god send to so many people. Ill find the link. I use it for my boys and havent had any steroids or vet treatment for their skins since I started using it. I also get the itchy ear drops from them. The vet was giving my BT steroids and antibiotics for that! and it is just his exzema.

If it helps anyone, I took out Halifax Pet insurance Xtra in March 2007 for my Cavalier when he was aged 4 months and in 2010 he developed a serious ongoing throat problem in 2010. Since that time I have had to make frequent and quite substantial claims on the insurance (including £700 to have his tonsils removed). Halifax has always honoured my claims without any problems. About two weeks ago they wrote to tell me about their finishing with pet insurance and when I phoned them I was offered compensation immediately, and without any quibble.0

Your very lucky then as a lot of us have complained and the halifax don't want to know about our animals with chronic conditions that we will now have to fund the bills ourselves, so think yourself lucky!!!!0

Could anybody that has been offered compensation please let me know the address that they were contacted from please, i have been putting my letter in writing to newport but have found another address in trinity road halifax so not sure if i have been writing to the right place or not.
Thanks

The Halifax has seriously left me in big trouble.
My boy has the extra cover which is meant to be lifelong
He has a lifetime illness which uses his full cover of £6000 a year.
From tomorrow he isn't covered, now if I could of afforded medical problems I wouldn't of taken out insurance, instead I found what I thought was a trustworthy company with a lifelong cover just I case. I would much rather gave a healthy pet trust me.
Now I need to find £ 6000 a year to cover his conditions, this is impossible. I do not ave holidays, own my own home, have an expensive car or anyway I can find this money. I have enough money(in the whole world) to keep my boy alive for 3/4 months if I'm lucky. They have signed his death sentance, I have received a tough look letter & that's it. I do not have 6 months to wait as my boy will not make it that long without meds. I'm getting nowhere fast. My dog is like a child to me, how can they do this. They should honour these contracts it states in there terms of business they will invite your renewal with there most competitive insurer, they should replace there policies with. Like for like cover or compensate for the dogs life term.
If anyone can give me any advise I would be very grateful as I'm going out of my mind with worry thank you0
