Saturday/Sunday 24th/25th Sept What Small DFW Things Will You Do?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D

Morning guys  where is everyone? Felt sure that the thread would be started already. what's going on????

Hurrah its the weekend, but no rest for us as we now in ernest pack our lives & begin the cleaning process :undecided

So not so much for me other than the above - but as well as that I will:
  • food from stores - majorly need to eat the food in the freezers
  • make banana bread for the boys lunches for the week
  • [STRIKE]check banking[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]pay some bills[/STRIKE]
  • take things to the tip/drop things off at the cs - 1 or 2 more loads
  • garage cleared - a box of stuff to go through & need to get some bits collected or drop off to the cs/tip next weekend
  • do some exercise if I have time
  • have listed some stuff on freecycle
  • will list 4 or 5 bits on ebay
  • email a guy from freecycle about measurements of chest of draws
tonight we are going to my friends Charity Anniversary celebration. She is a trustee for a Charity in India which funds girls going to school (actually I'm not sure it is India :o!) and there is a curry night to celebrate £7 each & its bring your own so will be fairly cheap :T
Happy weekend to you all x

  • Hi guys

    I'm here :)

Was planning on going shopping and out for dinner with OH tonight but we're not going now - it's our anniversary in a few weeks and we're thinking about going away for that instead, putting today's money towards that - quality, not quantity of meals out in posh restaurants and all that :p

    Other things:
    • Clean lots!
    • Do a little shop
    • Buy new cheap blinds - old ones got wet and have a water mark along them - fine for me but thought I best get new ones for the lodger when he eventually moves in
    • Bit of knitting - how many rows can be left until my beret is finished?! First time I've knitted in 4ply...
    • Bit of reading
    • Bit of tv watching and sofa lounging
    • Move £100 to friends' weddings a/c  1 best friend getting married in November and another in December with a hen night in December too. Eek, feeling the pinch!
Nowt exciting today really. Tomorrow I think OH and I will go walking - fingers crossed the weather stays nice.

DNMS - good luck with all the packing! Have fun!!

    xx

    Good Morning all

DNMS - Thanks for starting us off and hope the packing goes smoothly and you achieve all you want to today
Perni - Have a great holiday
WW - dont forget to plan yourself some relaxtion into that long list too
    Pixie - Miss you

Hope everyone else has a great weekend, hugs and best wishes to all that need them

LO has has spent the night coughing and barking but has woke up fresh as a button - not sure how that works, lol. We're off to the East Coast this weekend once OH is home from work so am hoping we'll get a bit of walking in.

Today's little list, (not sure I'll get much done but am going to try for as much as possible before Oh home)

Check Banks - still going to be very tight
Check Swapits (for LO) and post those swapped - done
Comps - done lots of last few days so by law of averages I must be due a win - am thinking of pressies
Update food tracker - in progress
    General tidy up -done
Read ("Boy in Striped Pyjamas" - Finished, need to find another to take with me )

Hope you all have a great weekend, love to you all

Yeah, where is the chick we call Pixie???

Have fun at the coast. That's my biggest gripe about Sheff - too far away from the beach! I'm hoping we'll get out to the peaks tomorrow though. :)

good morning all. didn't have a very good night's sleep last night as DD came into our bed and we couldn't get her out. everytime DH picked her up she woke crying. she did have trouble opening her door to come into us so not sure if it was that. must get DH to look at it tonight as she's never had a problem with it before.

DNMS good luck with the packing
    Ziggy enjoy your holiday
La E good idea about waiting for your anniversary before going out

    my list for today

    ironing
    [STRIKE]HC[/STRIKE] 2 loads done
    [STRIKE]line dry[/STRIKE] (hopefully)
    tidy front room in progress
    [STRIKE]check banking[/STRIKE]
    check surveys
    do October budget
[STRIKE]make chocolate for DD[/STRIKE] cheaper than buying
    [STRIKE]bread in BM[/STRIKE] didn't do this yesterday
    [STRIKE]email timesheet to work[/STRIKE]

that'll do for now. DD is insisting she wants to go somewhere today. not sure where we'll go though as DH has the car so we can't go far.

    Good morning everyone :)

It's a lovely dry day here today, so lots of HC will be the order of the day!

    My MSE list for today:
    • Check bank, sooo important as I'm forecast to be within pennies of my OD limit by payday :( - done
    • Breakfast and lunch from stores, but not sure about dinner at the mo as we're moving DD to her Uni later today and it will depend on what time we get home - done...had a takeaway for dinner :o, but we didn't get home until 11pm, so I think it was justified-ish
    • Lots of HC and line-drying - 2 loads done
    • 'Encourage' DD and DS to add to list of meals so we can devise a weekly mealplan which everyone will be happy with - still waiting ;)
    • Collect Av0n brochures and keep an eye open for stray coins needing re-homing while I'm walking ;) - done, but no coins found :(
Can't think of anything else at the moment, but I'm sure that lot will keep me out of trouble for a little while :D.

    Have a great day y'all!

    Been
    Full LBM 26 Sept 11
  • Morning everyone

Lovely here too, so HC underway and DSs and OH all despatched to football fields near and far. Usually watch but have come home this morning to sort out final bits for a trip next Saturday (work trip, but to Eastern Europe on my own so a bit nervous!)

    • checked bank - too much month for the money, will have to be extra frugal
    • need to clean house till sparkling but only seems to last 60 seconds before it's all gone to pieces again
    • make list for trip next week - including phrase book!
    • do meal plan for week ahead - OH likely to return with random purchases as football field has Aldi next to it. Will not be a full shop and usually has some bizarre items that remain uneaten for a while (artichoke hearts anyone?)
    • meet friend for coffee, but that's frugal compared to the enormous afternoon tea we had last time we met :rotfl:
    • go to work friend's wedding do tonight and give card and pressie from all colleagues and a little something from me
    Sparkle , sparkle, sparkle !!!
    Getting there...slowly! :D

    GC : must do better
    NSD: very rare

No matter how slow I go I am lapping everyone on the couch.

Thank you so much, tis only overnight but am hoping the bracing fresh air will blow away a few cobwebs and a little of the depression that I can feel building.

hope that you and DD both manage to relax and re-charge a little today after your disturbed night - how old is your DD?
