utterly poor customer service and negligence - currys

Options
I promise I will NEVER EVER buy anything from Currys again!!

My laptop was collected from home for repair on 07/Aug/11. After waiting for 2 weeks i been to Currys store and asked about my laptop. Instore person called customer care and confirmed that i will get my laptop on 29/Aug/11. i called customer care directly on 29/Aug/11 and asked about delivery. he told me that laptop is infested with cockroaches and therefore can not be repaired and will be returned to me in 1 week.

I have not received my laptop till date. Whenever I call customer service they give me one date. But I neither got the laptop on that date nor any call. Sometimes they say repair team is not able to find the laptop. sometimes they say delivery team is investigating the matter.

The custmore care person keeps saying 'from the note i can see you will get the laptop tomorrow'. but i never got the laptop on said date.

Its almost 2 months now but I have not got my laptop.

I found that custmore care manager was lying and giving wrong and fale information. They told me there is no way to esacalte this matter and they are not sure when I will get my laptop.

I am trying to find out no-win-no-fee solicitor to sue Currys for £20000 for utterly poor custmore service, carelessness and negligence.

    Gold plated laptop?

Or is that for loss of the cockroaches?

A cockroach is pretty big. Can't fit many in a laptop.

Or at midnight on a Friday have you had a few too many sherberts?

Totally agree about the service. They will do anything to avoid repairing or replacing anything. I too would NEVER buy anything there on principle. I just use them for researching products then buy elsewhere.

I hope someone comes long to help you in a minute

  • I think £20000 is correct amount for the time i spent, mental harassment, money i spent from pocket to call them for 20-30 mins calls. The main important point is whenever i spoke to customer care so-called Manager i got only one answer .. 'as per notes you laptop will be deliver tomorrow or xyz date'

Knowhow is one of the best company/firm in the world they must be given some award!!!

While talking i came to know from one custmore care person that they found the cockroches on 3rd day. so they should have returned my laptop in same week. If they can not repliar it, they should have returned within 2 weeks.

The most frustrating part is they kept lying to me that laptop is found and will be delivered on xyz date to buy some time.

Who is responsible for this ? i have not words to express my anger and disappointment.

anyone suggest any no-win-no-fee solicitor in London ?

    Cockroaches? Seriously? :rotfl:

Check their returns/repairs policy - there might be something about 28 days else you get a replacement.

    mental harassment,

You wouldn't know what mental harassment was.

As for the cockroaches, they will trying to catch all your pets to return them to you in one package. Can you imagine the mental distress to the poor cockroaches if thy are left without a laptop as a home. Did you not notice they were missing?

I hope the RSPCA are reading this thread!

I dunno whats more concerning the fact that its not one cockroach, but an infestation or the fact that the OP doesn't seem in anyway bothered that they found an infestation of cockroaches in his laptop.

As for the £20k, mental anguish? For me, cockroaches would cause me more mental anguish than a broken laptop not being returned to me.

I dont understand why a no win no fee solicitor would consider sueing currys for that sort of money on a case like this.

They only get paid if they win so they are only going to take the case on if they think they will win. You will not get more than the cost of you laptop and any other expenses. What were your medial bills for stress due to not having the laptop?
