Oh no I bet you're frustrated - but hey you are almost there keep hanging in there. Read this link regarding bank accounts and links to creditors: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=180121 When Payplan have all your details they will advise you which account to open.giddykipper wrote:Hiya - Thanks for asking!
A bit dissappointing really - I got myself all worked up, got all my info ready (and a little drinkie) and when they rang they went through the same things as when I first spoke to them!!
I explained that I thought I'd be having my 'in depth' call last night and they apologised profusely for the mix up, blamed it on the phone system being changed yesterday??!!! ..... and have arranged for someone to ring me on Thursday night for my financial assessment!
She said she didn't see there being a problem - but I don't want to get my hopes up too high at this point - will now have to wait until Thursday!

This thread has put me at ease
I'm new on here and have my financial assessment interview with Payplan tomorrow first thing. I'm a little nervous, mainly because I'm scared they won't be able to help, or that the banks will refuse the offers, but I'm also a bit scared of having to change banks.
I know this will all work out for the best in the end but I'm too much of a worrier
Good luck giddykipper, I hope Payplan are able to help you out xFirst DMP payment (Payplan) February 2007

Ashden - I know exactly what you mean - I'm really nervous too ........ there's soo much info to take in I keep worrying I'll have forgotten something ......... or that they might just say 'sorry, can't help ........ or my creditors will say no because I haven't missed any payments yet ........ there's sooo many thoughts/worries going through my mind at the moment its scary!
Having said that I do feel better that I'm taking action and that there might be a glimmer of light at the end of the (albeit very long) tunnel!
Best of luck tomorrow - hope it all goes well and you get the help you're hoping for - Let us know!
Lennymfo ..... thanks for the link - very useful, I've had a quick look but will read it properly shortly.
Does anyone know who virgin (credit card) are linked to?
Thanks for all your replies so far ........ I don't know what I'd have done without everyone's help.

I'll definitely come on and let you know how the assessment went.
I think Virgin credit card is MBNA. I applied for one a short while ago and I remember thinking at the time that I couldn't move my Abbey card (currently at 24.9%!) to it as that is MBNA also. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

Excellent - I'll keep my eye out ....... and everything crossed for you tomorrow!
I have a virgin credit card - so does that mean that they'd be able to take payments from my new A&L account?
Right, I think I should stop with all the what ifs and wondering and just let Payplan tell me who to get a new account with!!
Typical though - I've only just signed all the paperwork for my direct debits to be taken from the A&L instead of RBS and my wages should be going in the A&L at the end of this month!! (although that's easy enough to change)!!

Affirmative, Virgin are for all intense and purposes MBNA.giddykipper wrote:Ashden - I know exactly what you mean - I'm really nervous too ........ there's soo much info to take in I keep worrying I'll have forgotten something ......... or that they might just say 'sorry, can't help ........ or my creditors will say no because I haven't missed any payments yet ........ there's sooo many thoughts/worries going through my mind at the moment its scary!

Right, I've had my financial assessment and it went well.
The guy called me up and basically went through the following;
employment, salary etc
any assets
expenditures - we were spending more than the recommended in some areas, but less in other areas so he balanced it out so we could claim the same surplus.
bank accounts - we're going to have to move to co-op/smile accounts as we're connected to virtually every other bank!
He was not judgemental at all. He explained everything clearly and answered all my questions.
I feel a lot better about it all and I'm just waiting to receive the paperwork now. We've also set up another call for next week with the case team.
Ooh, and they won't contact the creditors who are linked to our bank accounts until we've given them the all clear that we've moved our money.

Hi Ash
Excellent news ....... did they tell you what is recommended to spend and in what areas (ie/ what do they allow for food shopping, clothes etc etc). I presume yours is worked out for a couple?
What have they told you to do now as regards your payments to creditors in the immediate future (until everything is set up)?
Oh I already have an (empty) ISA account with smile so maybe I could get a current account with them as the new one I opened at A&L appears to be linked to my Virgin cc!
Any top tips? I've got mine tomorrow night!
