I am a bookkeeper and have been through 2 VAT inspections for two different clients. I panicked and spent ages checking all the receipts and entries but the first one was only worried that some of the sales were Zero rated (it was a construction company and some of their work was new build and is zero rated) and the second one was for a catering company and all she was interested in was telling us that Jaffa cakes are biscuits and not cakes and are therefore zero rated. I wish I could get a job with the VAT office as it seems a doddle. Dont lose any sleep over it as it will be fine.
Regarding your other problems I too am about to go down the PayPlan route.
Good Luck with both but I am sure like me you feel releif to be addressing the problem

My only problem at the moment is one of the years is not in the box it should be, but we got 4 weeks to find it.

Yes it is a relief to be addressing the problems, my friend says at least it is all going on at once and not one thing after another which I suppose is a blessing in disguise.

However I've had so many threats thrown at me in the past 6 months, that I'm past the stage of caring or worrying about them, now I just take it as it comes and give as good as I get, some people can be very rude to you and it's quiet a buzz when you catch them out on it
