  • This is good news but its a shame this wasn't communicated to customers or on their website.

    Good news.
  • They said they would announce it today. So I guess you'll get an email later on and the website will be updated.

A&L waited till the 1st of the following month after the last rise in BoE rates, and didn't really comment until it actually happened, if I remember correctly. Chances are it will be the same again.

I opened an account for Mrs Gambler as soon as ICESAVE started. Everything went smoothly but when i tried to deposit the initial £250 I was a bit too quick off the mark as the DD had not been set up.

Then I became so busy that it was a good few weeks before I tried again. It was then I noticed from their letter that a deposit had to be made in 30 days, damn !

Do I have to go through the whole process again?

Cool cheers, will see what happens this time, can't really take it out yet anyway as it will have all been a pointless excercise and will lose roughly 90 quid in interest.

Your not meant to do any transfers by BACS other than the first deposit.

Oddly enough I have found the details they gave me for telegraphic transfers by BACS. It's an account number of theirs plus sort code plus my A/c as ref.

But...... the email they sent today giving me the last four digits of a new password (the first four were given over the phone last night) still won't let me in. It just says "site error. An unexpected error has occurred......
So it looks like I will have to phone after all. Just can't see the point of internet accounts that require telephone calls to sort things out. All the others I've had have a secure email system i.e. Nationwide, Egg, Smile, Cahoot etc...
  • Thanks, Martin's site doesn't indicate that the rate is not applicable until 19th
(have just clicked site to see 3.45%)

Yes they provide you with the details when you sign up but the terms and conditions say that you can only make the first deposit using it. Im not sure what they can do if you keep doing it?

But not if you cant log in...
  • This information has now been confirmed on the IceSave web site here.

I assume it will not be displayed on the 'front page', as it were, until the 19th itself.

That's enouh to persuade me. I have just applied and opened an account online, but I need help here. I have filled in the DD bit...do I just wait and will they automatically take the initial payment by dd or do I transfer it when I get my account details through.
