Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 23rd Sept. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all - been waiting for this to start!

Been up since oh-my-god o'clock today, trying to do quiet jobs so as to not wake everyone! Not done very much, though. (Smilies not working - grr)
Mild and dry here, so WM going on soon. Going to Junction 32 with my sister today, so an early start needed.
Have a good day all, will pop back later.

Hubby want's to spend tomorrow pricing up the wood for a new gazebo he want's to build, we had a temporary one up last summer & we loved it.
Have a good day everyone.

Jackie G - lot of virtual hugs for you x
Hester - hope you have a quiet day.
Beth - thinking of you x
I need to get some food shopping today but other than that I dont have many plans. Im still feeling a bit subdued but will take things in my stride and fight the battle as and when. I know that Kids Dad and my GP will help me as much as possible.
Off to feed the guinea pigs and the washing machine again. Both are beeping at me:eek::eek:
Have a good day xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
            Morning all,
Not quite so cold here this morning, still got the windows open at night, sleep better that way.
Off to work again today, early finish though :T.
Dinner tonight is carbbonara, made with a few rashers of bacon, the price of food is so shocking atm , having to stretch everything as much as possible.
Need to do a wash tonight, will have to go on the airer overnight, and then out in the morning hopefuly.
Hester, I dont think you should even attempt to go to work, you will only spread it around, take it easy for once xx
Jackie G hugs to you xx
Tappers, we have the threat of an op hanging over little dog too, hope all goes well for louie xx
Candy and Lamewolf hugs to you both.
Ah well better get on, have good days all xx0 -
            Morning all,
At long last it is friday! this week seems to have gone on for ever. I am really tired again and I have to face 5 classes of teenagers! I am sure I will enjoy it when I get there, it is just the thought of all the energy that I am going to need.
Tonight I am going to the dogs with some work friends, should be a lot of fun, I always choose my dogs by their names, not a very scientific way to do it but I usually end up a pound or two up on the night!
Tea tonight is pie and peas at the dogs and HM pizza for the rest of the family.
Hugs to all who need them especially Molly, JackieG, Candy, Lamewolf and Beth. Apologies if I have missed anyone.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
            Morning all,
Thanks for the hugs, I am feeling much calmer this morning, I was just in a bit of a state of shock. I am just angry and upset that life is so cruel.
Its a holiday weekend here, I am going to blitz ds2's room and get it decorated, I have everything I need, so no cost either;;) The birthday cake went off last night, and my friend was delighted, I will post to fb once I get round the new privacy as I need to hide it from another friend as I had refused to make a cake for her, and I dont want to have a falling out. She's the sort of person who wont do you a favour, but expects the world.
I hope your cold goes soon Hester,.I think you should stay home too. Molly I hope you win your battle, its a disgrace you need to battle in the first place. Hugs spoons and hi fives all round.

Hi everyone. A great start to the day when I was opening the window in my office and almost touched a huge huge sp**er! I can't even write the whole word; I thought I'd got over the hysteria I used to feel when I was younger but, faced with something that looked tropical, all bravery went out of the window. Luckily, DH was still at home to deal with it, but now I feel spooked for the rest of the day. I had a handful of conkers so I've thrown them all over the place. I shall have to get some more at the weekend so that I can cover every room in the house.
Apart from all that drama, the sun is already shining and, after a really cold start, it looks like it will be a nice day. I have a load of towels and teatowels to get dry, so it should be a good drying day.
Hester - I hope you get the chance to go home early, rather than have to be at work with that cough.
Beth - thinking of you.
Dinner tonight will be marinaded chicken thighs, potatoes, and the rest of last night's salad; I just need to boil a couple of eggs to go with it. Pudding will be fresh fruit salad, icecream, and some really delicious myrtle meringues that I bought yesterday, because they looked irresistible.
I have some online work to do that has to be submitted by midday, and one of the ex-pat sites here is advertising for a part-time proof-reader for French students who are learning English online, so I shall see if I am in with a chance for that. It would be great because it's more work that can be done at home.
Anyway, time for another cuppa.

Jackieg - Hugs hun, life is so so cruel. x x Good luck with the decorating too!
Hugs also to all who are feeling a bit under the weather, or just want them.
I'm on another health kick today, I've put on a bit too much recently, so want to shift it off again. Going to get eating under the control over the weekend and then start exersizing daily again as of monday. I have some workout for dummies dvds that are amazingly good fun, i used to do them twice a day out of enjoyment more than anything, so want to get back into that.
I'm glad it's the weekend! I'm not sure what i'm doing, I need to blitz the house though, it's terrible. So will aim to be up early tomorrow get it done and out of the way.
