Single holiday..

I've been to The Gambia as a single. You can add another £50 for the Malarone & the private prescription. Go to the Red Sea instead.
There are other anti-malarials that cost a good deal less than malarone, and not all doctors charge for the prescription (mine doesn't). However, the Nile would indeed be more interesting (although the cost of alcohol on a cruise boat would more than wipe out the saving on the pills).0 -
If you like, you may go to somewhere in Asia. They do not have holidays on Xmas. So you can go to see the scenic spot along. And enjoy the exotic customs and cultures. But with only 7 days, it won't be a nice choice. At least 2 weeks would be better.0

I believe there is only one "other" antimalarial suitable for the chloroquine-resistant strain found in The Gambia and it can cause sun sensitivity. I learnt this fron my GP's nurse as it happened to her. She had to cover up for the duration of her winter sun holiday. Not worth the risk.0 -

As you like snow too, I've been pricing up www.jet2holidays.com for Prague over Christmas.
There is a small £75 supplement for a single but the cost of 4 days HB from 22-26th Dec is coming in at sub £400 which I think is good value. I'm in Scotland and that price is from Newcastle as it's £100 cheaper than the Edinburgh flights.
I'd love to go to Asia as I have the whole 2 weeks off but the flight prices alone are prohibitive unless anyone can recommend a good website.0 -

I think (not sure) that there are other options. Anyway, you refer to doxy, which does increase your skin's sensitivity to sunburn and so would not be a good choice for dedicated sun-bathers. I used doxy for my trip to Togo last August, and had no problems. I did not spend any time on the beach, but did go hiking in the mountains and so took a reasonable amount of sun.0 -

Of course, it might not be the kind of holiday that would appeal to a single person, but that's another issue.
I've travelled a lot as a single traveller, and have visited Tunisia, I always stay in Hammamet, have stayed in different hotels, Mexico, Dom Rep, Turkey, Cyprus, Gambia, (really want to go back to) and just come back from Prague.
I always find single rm supplement can add the cost on, but travel agents will search through the prices for you, and there are some bargains to be had.
With it being xmas time, and within 12 weeks, then the more flexibile you can be the easier.
Another area could be gran caneria, as its still hot at xmas.
I have an I want list, Cuba, Kenya, Sharm a Sheik (excuse my spelling), my daughter shes been to Tunisia, and Dom Rep with me, but she has itchy feet, she wants lapland, tunisia again, bendiorm, cuba, back to dom rep.
xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Regardless of where I went, my best ever tip I was given buy a cheap wedding ring from Argos, - and slip it on when your away, quite handy in market place or shop, as quickly say sorry hubby got the wallet, got to go, I've had no probs as a single traveller.
You could say where ever you go there always be someone that may try and chat u up as your a single lady, just look at the stories in Take a break, older lady younger man, in Turkey, but some ladies do go out just for the holiday romances, its just a case of saying no not interested, I've seen it in Tunisia, Dom Rep and Gambia as well as Turkey.
As for Gambia, I can honestly I found everyone to be lovely, I even ended up going to a wedding party of a taxi driver in a local village, I stayed in Senegambia Beach hotel in Senegambia, lovely hotel. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

Your welcome! I'm in two minds, it's a great price but I'm keen to go to Asia if I can find good flights.0
