take it to the charity shop just before your next period, so if you feel the urge you can buy the same one back again at charity shop prices

Blimey I've heard PMT blamed for a lot but seriously, puffa jackets?
On a more serious note though, is it really such a problem? Can't you just return it (and any subsequent) to the store. Conveniently most stores offer a 28 day return......... actually, is that how they decided to make it 28 days?:rotfl::rotfl:
I'm assuming she takes the tags off and wears it before she realises what she's done?
I bought 3 pairs of boots yesterday because I couldn't decide which ones to buy  I am not interested in shoes and have probably never owned 3 pairs at the same time!
They are all black, all comfortable and sensible and the kind of thing I would normally buy but even so, I can't afford it! The gorgeous ones are put aside for my christmas present off my husband now.52% tight0 -
this time it was nearly a leopard print dress but friend talked me down!
:eek:That must be what half the rubbish is in my wardrobe, I often think what possesed me to buy that, and I think I may now have the answer:eek::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Is that what causes it??

I am glad I am not alone with this curse.
I do tend to return the items to shops unless it is an ebay purchase like the one I bought this TOTM. It is worse than many of the others as it is short so doesn't cover my bum but makes me look like an obese smurf - not a good look. I think it will be a charity shop donation unless I keep it until my period next month and wear it for that week lolIf you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -
Ladies, do any of you make crazy purchases in the run up to or during your TOTM? I have a bizarre leaning towards metallic blue puffa jackets and have bought around half a dozen of them over the years and never worn any of them

I bought another one at the weekend without taking notice that my period was due and it only clicked when it arrived today and I realised that I had done it again
Thankfully this one was pretty cheap and will make a nice item for the charity shop but flipping heck how do I get over the pre-menstrual shopping urges?
Anyone got any similar tales of woe that get in the way of being MSE?
Yes, I do. Not clothes, but I get through a few days of buying food and cooking as if preparing for a nuclear assault... it clicked when I realised I had done it about 3-4 times, always on the week leading to my period. Someone told me is what happens to pregnant people as well, the 'nesting' instinct. It is ok, because at least I have food for a while and don;t have to worry once I am there , if you know what I mean, but I can end up exhausted too: the urge to buy food and cook it is pretty strong.
Just on Monday I made an impulse purchase of a book/diary that I didn't need or want, but that I found very amusing and really cheered me up ('my disfunctions diary', with very interesting and amusing quotes form famous people- I returned it this morning).
I also can get a bit obsessive about cleaning: suddenly I can see speaks of dust everywhere, whereas the rest of the month my attitude is much more balanced( ie, I don't get upset by it).
If I were you, I would return items you don't really want or need and keep the money... not a good feeling to end up with stuff you bought on impulse...0 -
For me its luxury items, feeling the urge to treat myself. I don't know if that's some psychological need to protect and coddle myself and I express it through things I think are luxuries. I also go a bit mental for perfumes.
Anyway, Lancome got £150 of my hard earned money today. Id have walked away with another perfume if id found anything interesting, however, Im still in mourning for the discontinuation of Kiehl's Forest Rain and I'm thoroughly skint!

I went to the checkout in Asda with 3 litres of red wine, 2 bars of Green & Blacks choc and a large block of cheese. SA says, "me too"

I also get the urge to scour the house clean with OH's toothbrush. :shhh::hello:
