None, insurance is the oldest scam in history.
If it was not all insurance companies would be bankrupt.
Open a savings account and put your premium in here and dont touch it, over the dogs life you will save money, lots of money. If the dog falls ill use the fund to pay for treatment.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Thanks for that , ive always had dogs and never used insurance, but billy sometimes seem to have a problem with his back legs, he limps then he shys away for the next couple of hours with his tailed tucked under.........dont think its a big health problem .........whether its like a cramp or what , apart from that hes a very lively happy little chap, but it do happen occasionaly..............................0 -
Have a look at this
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/cut-pet-insurance-costs
Loads of pro's & con's
Try to go for a policy with lifetime cover (rather than 12 month limited) and as high a £ payout per condition you can afford.
Pet*plan are excellent, but expensive.
Try the comparison sites but also look at Direct Line etc which won't come up (currently doing 12 months for price of 9) http://www.directline.com/pet/welcome.htm?cmpid=/000/pet/aff
Avoid anything by or underwritten by E&L (terrible at paying out).

We use Pet Plan, and have more than had our money's worth for our cat. We've been paying since he was a tiny kitten and he never had anything wrong until February this year at the age of 12 when he was diagnosed with lymphoma. Hubby is a vet, but even not having to pay the vet, the cost of the drugs, nursing time, etc cost us over £3000 just to get his diagnosis. He was then hospitalised on a drip for a few weeks while he regained enough strength to start on his drug treatment (which to be fair is reasonably cheap). He is back to his old self and you'd never guess he has cancer. Paying PetPlan has been well worth it.
Avoid any insurance company who stop paying out for a condition once the new annual policy starts. That is the reason we chose PetPlan - as long as they don't already have the problem when you sign up to them then they cover the condition for life.0 -
Just re-read your 1st post - if Billy has the occasional issue with his legs, get him insured now ..... it may get worse and he may need treatment at some point which could be very costly if an ongoing condition (esp as he's only 2).Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

I've just taken out pet insurance for the first time (had previously self insured). After much research, I went with PetPlan. They were not that much more expensive than other reputable companies for my two rascals.0

I got Argos Platinum for all 6 cats and a dog (German Shepherd).
george my 1 yo cat just came home from the vets after an operation on one of his legs - bill came to £2279. He will need another leg done too.
Now, who said do nto take insurance?
yeah rite....
My dog had hips displasia and arthritis, just Xrays were about 600 - she too will need an op and some point at about 2500 - 3000 per leg.
Who has access to thsi kind of cash I wonder?
I do nto have a credit card or an overdraft so thanks God they are all insured...0 -
I have dealt with vairous insurance companies having had a few dogs in the past. I found that Petplan was the best. I was lucky i went for the superem cover as one of my dogs ended up with a £18,000 bill at the age of 2.0
