In the blogger Basic Settings. Look for Blog Address and you will see your .blogspot address. Below it is a link saying "Add a custom domain". Click on that, then click Switch to Advanced Settings.
Follow the instructions to point your registered domain at your blogger blog.0 -
I understand your view point but 8 in an hour and half were from germany where the blog subject is very famous and was on twitter last night when I posted it?Your hits will most likely be bots trawling the net.
Keep at it, blogging can be extremely rewarding but takes time
Maybe I am clinging on to the hope
I have picked a subject that interests me and can span out to needing to be updated full time I really could run away with myself but as I dont have too much spare cash to start it, there doesnt seem to be any already in the market I am aiming for and Idont have as much time as I would like......I am hoping the reason I cant find anything yet is because I have an undiscovered topic :rotfl:
Once I get the domain sorted I can spend some quality time writing articles and planning events(to which hopefully I will be able to sell tickets) and then when I have a decent set up of content I will then push it on. Found the pics and vids adder, got amazon and adsense on to start and will be hoping to add laterooms for the chance to book a hotel forthe evening of an event on my calander even better if they can buy tickets through me to
Thanks Jingo, I think I have finally sussed the dns settings on TSO although I must add their cs was crap, had the run around off them but never mind think I am almost ready to let my domain name go live. :beer:0 -
May know this already? but if you wanna check how many searches are being done for that topic you can use google trends

I found something similar it was unbelievable what folk search for

It is a good job to, as it really has helped me decide which way to go and gave me another idea for one to hopefully be ready next summer where I may get traffic if I build now and then as winter starts to go away and people look for a holiday hopefully my blog may be at the point of being noticed then. Lots of work to even try but as it is about things I like to talk about anyway and research for my own good it not do any harm mixing it together and if I get any money its a bonus.
Still cant change my domain though, changed settings at TSO at lunch time and its still not working so may wait till tomorrow now a I have just finished college and I will be off to work soon for the night shift

Well, my blog has been set up since Tues and I've had around 50 hits so far so seems to be going ok?
Can anyone point in the direction of any good info on what to do next? I have done A LOT of reading over the last few days as I was a complete beginner but I want to learn more. Any decent free search engine submission sites? (Do I even need to do this?)0 -
Register with blog directories (technorati, blogged, blog catalog, etc), work on getting some inbound links (PM me with the url, and if it is related to any of my sites, i'm happy to give you a link), submit to Pingler or pingoat every once in a while. Link out to other blogs/websites where appropriate, create a couple of list post (web users love lists it seems...) e.g. Top 10 blue widgets or The 5 Best Green Widgets.
Write good content that solves a problem or answers a question, and that people are searching for. Make sure your on-page seo is as good as possible.0 -

Start by doing the things I mentioned above...
Blogging, for most people, is a struggle. Most bloggers make tiny amounts, some make enough to afford a few luxuries, a few earn enough to quit their day jobs, and a tiny percentage make crazy money.
Unless you happen to stumble on a highly lucrative niche that no one is serving (unlikely...), be prepared to spend at least a year building up your blog before it even covers the cost of your broadband.
And even then, if you pick the wrong niche, you could be faced with the prospect of 2000 visits a day only earning you a few quid.0 -

I seem to be getting a few visits from a bit of twitter promotion but will look into all the sites you recommend, thank you.
I don't think my niche is going to make me any money because of what it is about. It's been going a week now and I have had 140+ hits and 60 unique visitors but no-one has clicked any of the ad links yet.
Will PM my blog though, cheers

I have a blog based on my hobby / sport. I have recently added Adsense and quite surprised that now I have stats including Canada, America and Germany. Its generated about £3 in 2 months lol but after reading this I have got some tips I think. ie more interesting articles that people might search.
