You implied that here when you asked "where have we refered to atos kills on this thread"0 -

Especially if you are sick, as we are supposed to according to you tonight to not take that in and not fear the medicals that even mental health charity has concerns re.
Benefit bashers must love it when those with family on benefits attack others when not even ilegally doing anything wrong.
I only asked for reasurance on this forum tonight and got labelled and extremist, sick.0 -

Has anyone else got experience f claiming ESA with mental health problems or can provide me with some advice.
Thanks
Firstly , having read the whole thread i don't want to get involved in the argument re: ATOS. I can only give you my experiences and therefore my own advice.
It would seem that having Mental Health problems will make it harder to make a claim for ESA. There are those who have sailed through it with no problems but the way i see it , there seems an awful lot that don't. My 1st piece of advice would be expect the worse.
If you are asked to go to an assesment centre try and go unless you can have someone with you during the time you are with the Atos representative.
My own experience. I was unable to travel to the assesment so completed the form for a home visit, this was supported by my GP. I don't remember now but Atos has a period of time in which they have to carry out their assesment. I got a phone call on a sunday morning. It was a male voice saying he was a doctor and that he had to do a medical. He wanted to come in 10 mins. Obviously i refused as i had had no notification of any appointment etc. The Doctor became very assertive insisiting that he had to come. I agreed as i felt intimatidated by him. I have to admit i was shaken by the phone call but agreed he could come at 4pm. He arrived, wife in the car as they had had a day out ( so he said). He came in, didn't tell me his name , didn't say he was from Atos and to this day i dont even know if he was a real doctor. Because of my condition i find it hard to communicate when under stress/anxiety. So like a lemon i just sat there. He asked a few questions ( how much rent i paid, what was my house worth, why dont i buy it) while having this conversation he was writing , what i dont know. The only medical thing he did ask was the medication i was on. He left after about 5 mins. I dont remember if i signed anything as it was all a blur by then.
2nd piece of advice. As some posters have said , record or have a witness.
I failed the medical and was told to claim JSA. JSA refused me as i had health problems. Work that one out!
3 rd piece of advice. Make sure you appeal. I got support from my GP but even he told me that Atos don't take any notice of his opinion or a phychatrist, as the other patients had had the same problem. GP told me to accept that i might not be able to claim ESA.
Tribunal. I attend the tribunal with a support worker.
4th piece of advice. Never go on your own, use CAB or support service. Tribunal was worse than the medical. Solicitor and doctor on the panel. Again not really able to speak but they were patient in waiting for answers and the support worker helped. The Solicitor made a remark , you've been suffering from this for the last 10 yrs. I gave my answers in a medical way and because the solicitor didn't know what the hell i was on about got a bit arsey with me. The doctor understood though . I took that as having a go at me and completely broke down. That scared the crap out of him :rotfl:
I was awarded ESA.
I am due for a renewal and making myself ill over it. I know im deteriorating and have been more so this last week. I can understand why people think that doing something silly is better than going throught the hassle and humiliation of applying for ESA, its sole distroying. I used to claim DLA but because of my experiences of ESA i have let my claim lapse and wont be claiming it again....i cant face it.
Again this is only my experience and others may tell you they got on fine no problems, awarded ESA. The advice again, comes from my own experience. Good luck with your claim and i hope you are sucessful without any hassle.
Sorry if i have bored you all with my ramblings."I may not have gone where i intended to go,but think i have ended up where i needed to be".Douglas Adams0 -

In that case, would it not be better to try to stay on topic?
Instead of talking about things you dont understand?[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,

So please, stay on topic yourself then, and stop adding to the problem.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

Are you unable to stay on topic, and unable to refrain from insulting other posters on a regular basis?
Nothing is hypocritical about what I said btw.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
