  • I can remember getting our 1st video player in the early 80's. The first film we watched on it was "Raiders Of The Lost Ark". ;)

Videos and DVD's weren't around when I was a child. The closest thing we had were records that came with a picture book. You played the record while reading along to it in the book. At the end of each page a bell tinkled and you turned over to the next page. I had Lady and The Tramp which included The Siamese Cat Song "We are Siamese if you pleeeeze!". I loved it and drove my poor parents mad playing it over and over again!:D
  • I'm at the stage where I'm thinking about having kids and I really want to track down a copy of the book I used to read at bed time when I was little...full of poems like 'winkin blinkin and nod' and 'the gingham dog and the calico cat'. It was a lovely hard back book full of brilliant poems with great illustrations.

I loved that book and I can't imagine having a baby and not being able to read from it!

Was talking to my eldest two about pre-school TV the other day.

From what I remember, Playschool was on around 10.30am and then there was about 20 mins of programmes on around 1pm, like King Rollo, Mr Benn, Pigeon Street etc., and that was it for pre-schoolers. The programmes got cancelled if the tennis or cricket or something like that was on.

They don't know they are born these days with several channels like CBeebies, Nick Junior etc., showing programmes all day long.

Having said that, I've got a 4 year old who's barely watched TV as she's shown no interest in it at all.
Here I go again on my own....
  • Fern Gully for me, and Sharky and George of an early morning - OH and I were talking about this the other day! I'm 24 and he's 37, so there's only a little bit of overlap but it was ace reminiscing with him. Oh! And Round the Twist, and Saved by the Bell! Those were the days...

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time
  • During the 70's and 80's I think a lot of programmes had really great theme tunes!

Van der Valk. Never watched the programme really, but love the theme! Eye Level by The Simon Park Orchestra, have it as one of my ringtones!

I was recently walking around the market and found the carebears movie for £1!!!!!

I loved the film the american rabbit, funny as I watched it back as an adult and can see the morals I was brain washed with, such lines as 'it doesn't matter if you win or lose as long as you tried you best'.

I keep meaning to buy the original transformers series.

But forget all that who remembers Pob's Programme!!!!
