I used a co op £2 off a £10 spend in there a couple of days ago on the ss and it accepted it without asking for authorisation.
Weird.
The SS till would accept it as till just reads the barcode. As long as the amount doesn't exceed the limit to call for authorisation, till wouldn't know. If you had had a £3.00 off £10, it wouild have called for authorisation.0 -

Didn't make money just got free toys!
Basically the way it works is if ur overcharged they give u double the difference between what u paid and what it was advertised at.
The toys I picked up were stickered at half price but scanned at full price so double the difference equals full price paid so u get the money u paid back and get to keep the items = free stuff.
Sometimes u get back more than u paid but that's rarer than getting stuff cheap which is more usual.
You just have to keep checking ur reciepts and trying to remember what they were advertised at.
Or check on here for stuff not scanning right. I usually write out a list cause I forget when doing shopping

A new (I think) DTD today - Hovis Homebakes were on a big 2 for £2 stand in my local, Gl0$$0p, however the discount didn't come off:
Charged 2 x £1.64 = £3.28
DTD of £2.56 refunded
I was going to use the free voucher from the vouchers thread but noticed at the checkout that it didn't come off so decided to save that one for when the issue is fixed. My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.0 -
So, I'm new here. I was just wondering how you get the Double the difference thing? I have searched this forum, granted I have not read all 51 odd pages on this thread but I have looked at quite a few! And I have looked on the MSE blog which says the double the difference was an offer to do with asda stores and is closed? Have I missed something??0

If you are overcharged on an item they will refund you double the difference
e.g SEL £20.00
Charged £40.00
Difference £20.00 which is then doubled to refund you £40.00My husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.0 -

There was a Double The Difference promotion back in the summer whereby you got a voucher from Tesco for double the difference if something was more expensive than Asda. Some lovely people on here set up a lovely spreadsheet so we all knew the best things to buy. I myself paid very little for my shopping for 3 months and still have lots of non perishables and lots of frozen items left over. They changed it to just the difference in April but it is still worth doing if you do not have an Asda near you.
However the Double the difference policy refered to on here is if you buy an item for say 20 pounds and you get charged more (say 40.00) because the price label on the item or shelf was wrong then they should give you 40 pounds back (double the difference ) plus you keep the item aswell. Hope that explains it. I myself had 840 of stuff for free in about 10 days earlier this year. lots of helpful people will be along soon with more advice. And welcome to Mse
And along came Purdita with a much simpler explanation. Still we all loved the summer promotion so no harm mentioning it agsin.0 -

:T The dtd summer promotion was fantastic, only just beaten by the clubcard health and beauty points coupons, organic fruit points coupons, nappy points coupons or R&R. Come to think of it Tesco have always been easy to take advantage of:D0 -
Tesco refused to take £4 coupon (mr s) off my shopping on Saturday. I went to CS to let them know that I wasn't happy and asked to speak to a manager about it. There was no notices at the door or anywhere else. Had there been i could then have made a decision to enter the store or go to their competitors with my coupon instead of spending my money with them. I was told it had stopped last Monday.
I've rang head office today and was told that it was mentioned on their website and also in the press. I still think that a notice at the entrance would have been better.I love being a non smoker (almost 5 years)
I love being frugal
I love being debt free and have NSD0 -

I had almost forgotten the days of health and beauty. I think I may still have some things left from that. Just got 6 Pantene Blonde shampoos for 24p each. Thanks Mr T!!0
