TPS only stops some calls ex companies seem to think its okay to continue relationship after you leave, it just isnt worth the agrovation telling them to taking a running jump been there done that too many times

I got hardware device called truecall best hardware investment I got for years. Wish they did one for doors :)

Truecall filters calls you can block callers you can record calls with added SD card and also logs calls incoming/outgoing. You can add white list to add mates/family so they dont get integrated by the device

I haven't had one single cold call since March 2010 :)

It costs £80+ well worth it in my eyes

I love their reaction when i tell them i can take them to the High Court ... lol. They normally can't put the phone down quick enough

Virgin once called me and it was a nice chap who asked me to prove I was me; I responded politely asking him to first prove he was from Virgin.

He laughed and said that whilst that was the first time anyone had said that to him, he fully understood why I would, he thought for a moment and the gave me some info that was enough for me to be happy he was (I think I may have asked him some security questions). :rotfl:

  • My answerphone handles 'timewasters' nicely.

My elderly mother receives multiple calls daily and I insist that she uses one. If everyone did the same these people would give up.

Anyone significant has my mobile number.
Never ever give your card details to anyone over the phone, and check the reputation of any company you do intend to give them to.

Sign up with TPS, tell everyone who cold calls you to remove you from their list, get a caller ID unit, be very careful about providing your number to anyone, and never ever engage in conversation. Most of it stops eventually.

I asked him why and he said it was so he could confirm I was who I said I was.

The ruse is obviously they are trying to solicit information from you which they don't have.

They do not want your date of birth and address to comfirm it with info they have.

They want your date of birth and address because they do not have it.

Give them any old fake date of birth and address and see if they accept it and continue, or if they actually decline to continue.

Or give them today's date and then get stroppy because they haven't wished you happy birthday.
  • I quite like the Barclay's way of confirming ID on "cold calls" to check and confirm debit card purchases...

They read out 3 possible DOBs and you select which one is correct.

I know its not entirely bulletproof but its the best I've seen.
