Viable - interesting choice of words.
I accept that this has been a horrid experience but these things DO happen - it just seems that your focus is on using this situation to get money and a new bath to replace the shower that you no longer need (as opposed to just getting a new screen).
I have requested a bath as my kids are now scared that the shower screen will break again not simply cause I want one.
as in op I advised the kids are scared of the bathroom to the point my 4 year old needs us to go to the toilet with him.
We are also afraid that it could happen again as it would be the same model.
And I hardly had to go far for a camera,, have you not heard of camera phones in pockets??0 -
No one ever did.... How are they today?
I'd be giving the last few panels a good whack with the back of my hand and see if they shatter. They are supposed be toughened and are supposed to break into a million peices as it did.
I wouldn't bother with compo. It's supposed to be for loss of something such as a body part or earnings. All they had was a few minor cuts and a big fright.
Thanks, they are still quite scared and some of my eldests cuts are atill slowly bleeding..
i NEVER said I was chasing compo just thought it was weird that they offered them on first phone call... seems everyone thinks im just trying to make money from my kids being scared and minor injuries..
The council have agreed to a bath as the kids are scared but are waiting for another dept to sign off on payment for the bath.0 -

So, how DID you eventually remove those glass shards? Surely they were the most urgent consideration to prevent any further injury. Your posts suggests that you left your child "covered in glass shards" whilst you found your phone and took a photo and whilst your OH was elsewhere getting some TCP.
Would it not have been better to take care of the "glass shards" and bleeding child first?:hello:0 -
Tiddlywinks you are coming across as quite the bully. I think you've made your point, no need to labour it.Herman - MP for all!

the glass shards were like sand all over his skin so with gauze TCP and lots of water we rinsed it down.

Slowly bleeding is OK. It'll stop soon. Annoying thing about clean cuts made from glass is they always seem to bleed for quite a while.Tmgthedonkey wrote: »Thanks, they are still quite scared and some of my eldests cuts are atill slowly bleeding..

I suppose if they have sent a compo form then fill it in it can't do any harm. You might get a small token payment. Then take them out with it. I really hope this doesn't put them off being near large glass panels in the future such as walking through glass revolving doors at places like supermarkets. It'll put me off having a shower for quite a while.
New bath sounds good. Hope it's quick.:footie:

In the first post you say "I have requested a compensation form for injuries to my children as this is the councils procedure". To me that indicates you're after compensation...... Or perhaps you just collect compensation forms?0 -

Perhaps if the council have to pay compensation they will alter the protocol for fitting dangerous shower screens in their properties? She's not saying she wants a 6 figure sum for heavens sake, she just accepted the councils offer of a form.0 -

why do you think the council fitted a dangerous shower screen?
why should the council pay any compensation at all? if the screen was ok for two years it suggests the screen was hit with something before the incident? or do you think toughened glass just "explodes"?0 -
or do you think toughened glass just "explodes"?
Yes, it does.

The main alternative is some sort of plastic, but that can be more dangerous if someone falls through it because can have sharp edges and long shards.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
