The gap between periods varied from the usual 4 weeks to up to 9 or 10 weeks. I was eventually diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary syndrome.
In my case I was moderately overweight and oddly when I tried the Atkins diet for a while a couple of years ago my periods started coming every 4 weeks again. I can't explain that and I'm not advocating that particular diet but that's what happened to me.
i suffered from this 2 but it sorted itself out after about 3 years. i also missed 3 periods when i wos 18 and thought i wos preggers, all tests were neg so i got the doc 2 make an appointment 2 get a scan only 2 find that i had been preggers but it had died very early and my body had refused 2 get rid. about 2 weeks later my body started doin it's job again. sorry if this puts a downer on ur post but i felt it would have been worse not 2 say, as these things do happen. hope it al works out 4 u

when I was pregnant with my first child, pregnancy tests all showed negative- even though I was 3 months gone- they could only tell through blood tests.
I took a test at 7 months gone through curiosity and again showed negative- lol!
2nd child though it went blue straight away!
probably not a lot of help but thought I would share this...A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

I have missed two periods before, both came the next time they were due, and I wasn't pregnant.
Don't waste money on the expensive test kits. The Tesco £4.99 one is as good as the £15 ones.

Hi Slapps, Elzie and Benny24 - thanks for your posts. Slapps- thanks for being so honest - I wanted to know the range of options good or bad and I guess it's good to be prepared.

Stress can effect your periods - if your willing yourself to be pregnant or hoping your not - may cause the delay and the test is accurate. However a friend of mine was five months pregnant before it confirmed via a scan. She had taken many negative tests including a blood test at the doctors and gained no weight.0

When I was two weeks late 17 years ago a friend was too, we shared the cost of a double kit which gave you two testing wands. Hers was positive, mine was negative. I knew I was pregnant though as it was my third baby and I was never ever late but remain virtually symptom less for 5 months apart from going off coffee quite quickly.
I Went to the doctors a couple of weeks later and had it confirmed. My DS is 17 now. Sadly she was pregnant but had a miscarriage at 12 weeks which I felt awful about as I was OK, she had another baby a year afterwards though, her third too. Maybe the tests are more reliable now but it was weird at the time.0 -
