Hi - some of you may remember I posted earlier in the week to ask how late people had been before having a positive pregnancy test. Well now I'm nearly 2 weeks late and still testing negative
I know that it is possible to miss periods but in over 20 years of having them this has never happened (excpet for 9 months with DS!!!) I am going to docs tomorrow but have to confess this is doing my head in!!!!
Just wondered if any one else has experienced anything similar???

I was never late... ever.... then I 'missed' a period for three months. All of the multiple pregnancy tests I did came up negative....
Was the worst three months ever, I kept hoping the next test would be positive and that I would be pregnant, but it wasn't to be."A simple life freely chosen is a source of strength. Do not be pursuaded into buying what you do not need or cannot afford." Quaker Faith & Practice 1.02.410 -
Over the counter pregnancy test kits are just as good as those used by the health authority however the result can be affected by the time of day of sampling, whether the user collects 'mid stream' and of course, that the test kits has been stored porperly and isn't out of date.
As you know, preg kits work on the basis of measuring the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and home pregnancy tests can detect if you are pregnant as early as 7 to 10 days after conception. If your home pregnancy test is negative, test your urine again within a few days to a week.
You should remember that:
You should where possible use your first morning urine as hCG levels are more easily detected. If not, make sure your urine had been in your bladder for at least 4hours.
Do not drink excessive amounts of fluids before the test to increase the volume of urine as this could dilute the hCG levels.
Some fertility drugs may interfere with the test results. Most other medications, both over-the-counter and prescription drugs—such as birth control pills and antibiotics—should not affect the results of a home pregnancy test.Integrity is a dying art!:p0 -
I have had this too...my period was 17 weeks late on one occasion...we spent a fortune on pregnancy tests, they were all negative.Maybe you are a wee bit stressed at your period being late, and this is making you late too.
Hope you get on ok at the docs.If you obey all the rules...you miss all the fun!! Katherine Hepburn0 -
Thank you for all your responses. Frugal fox- I know what you mean - I do keep hoping that the next test will be positive.
Strange how this happens though isn't it??

This might be an indication of cysts on your ovaries. I too thought I was pregnant 17 years ago but that was the start of my periods coming when they felt like it. The gap between periods varied from the usual 4 weeks to up to 9 or 10 weeks. I was eventually diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary syndrome.
In my case I was moderately overweight and oddly when I tried the Atkins diet for a while a couple of years ago my periods started coming every 4 weeks again. I can't explain that and I'm not advocating that particular diet but that's what happened to me.This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
